    Hi Everyone,

I'm getting my new 1794 edition within a month and want to per order catalytic converter shields as they've been stolen left and right here...

I saw a catalytic shield on Toyota website in truck options... Is Oem the best one to buy?

Any other recommendations for these shields? Need to order one...

    Thank you!

Very happy with Talon’s Garage cat shield, fits great with the TRD skidplate too.

Another vote for Valhalla, as he's a stand-up guy (and didn't have to steal his design from someone else).

Valhalla, Talons, MillerCAT. Take your pick. When comparing prices, also look at wait time.

Dealer will probably have a hefty mark up, but less likely to try to blame the shield for any future issues if they install it.

What all these guys said. Install on the Talons took me about 30 mins and I did it myself. I initially ordered Valhallas' plates, but the wait time when I ordered was too long and needed it before a trip to a bunch of high theft areas. So I had to cancel and go with Talons because they could ship next day.

Anyone's thought's on painting/coating the millercat's? Not super worried about corrosion, but want to 'protect the protection' if possible haha.

I asked a place about powder coating it and he talked me out of it. He said the rocks will chip up the paint and it would just come off. He said most people don’t bother. He however did say that anodizing would hold up well.

You have to trim the hook on the TRD skid plate to use it with the cat shields.

I just realized that I don’t think my truck has the trd skid plate in the front like it’s supposed to. What does the trd skid plate look like and where is it located? I have an sr5 with trd off road and the my window sticker says I have skid plates but I don’t see them I the picture I just posted

Yeah - a poweder coat wouldnt last too well. I am thinking a aluminum paint that i can just reapply as needed - worried more about contact areas of the bolts and such. Might just run it raw for a bit and see how it does over a winter - then take them off - inspect - and maybe clean up and paint then - or cave and jsut paint them when they come in next week lol.

Yeah those skid plates are plastic.one over the fuel tank and the other one looks more like a mud flap in front.

This is what they consider a skid plate for the off road package for the SR5. If your sales slip doesn't say trd skid plate you are going to fight an uphill battle.

I'm looking at these shields... Talons, Valhalla...

Seems like it's either made from aluminum (probably very easy to cut through as it's soft metal) or made from steel - so it'll rust badly I assume.

How come nobody is making it from stainless steel??

Most likely cost is why. And anything can be cut through with enough time. These shields are just meant to prevent someone from popping under your truck and cutting out the cats in a matter of a minute or 2. Cutting an aluminum shield out of the way to get to the cat would take 5-10 min at least I would imagine. That's way too much time for someone cruising the Walmart/Home Depot parking lot looking for a quick score.

Yeah, nothing is 100% secure. I look at it as a one of two things: Make it inconvenient enough that they dont want to take the trouble - or make so much extra noise trying to cut the shields that i/someone else catches them

Looks good! What's involved with the installation? Do you have to drill and tap holes or does it mount to existing drilled and tapped holes?

Plus aluminum is better heat dissipation/transfer.

Talons. Good product, shipped quickly, was packaged well and install was easy.

Edit: Point Man...No drilling or tapping. Watch their install video.

Hmm, the rise of catalytic convertors theft created a market for shields. One must wonder, world is crazy, haha. Looks good!

I wonder if you could 3d print a claymore mine body and strap it to the cats. Have random wires hanging of it and engrave "feeling lucky?" on the cat itself.
