Lived in many places in this land, and been almost everywhere. There's a lot of places I wouldn't care to live, and you just named two of 'em.

Well seems like we made our decision and it's Mandeville/north shore area...now it's just going to take some time to find the right job and I just got done applying for NOLA PD and Louisiana State Trooper so I'll see which one bites first

Redding is a good place to buy crack, or meth or whatever is they're whacked on there. I lived there for about 9 months, a long time ago. I believe a lot of elderly people retire there. Then, Shasta county receives a lot of funding for accepting newly released prisoners from the penal system. Makes for a great combo ;). Whiskey town lake is pretty cool though.

A little this and that...Broke now
I've spent the last 24 years in the peoples republic of commiefornia..I had a brief break in Arizona..I would take any southern state over Ca. My list of grievances is long so I will spare you the details. If you don't want the socialist/marxist/rainbow agenda rammed down your kids throat at indoctrination centers that pass for schools. but i digress. choose wisely..

If you want high heat coupled with high humidity come on down to the swamp and lets not forget the B-52 sized mosquito's. Good luck with LSP the bennies are going to be much better than that of the Not Our Problem Dude(NOPD). Try to find housing outside of the City of New Orleans, area's that were once deemed "safe"(uptown area) have now become prime hunting area's for the criminal element and lets not forget the shootings and homicides but then again you'll get that no matter where you choose to live maybe just not as frequent as down here .Other than that the food is great.

Asheville is growing. Its only matter of time before it resembles New Jersey. I am in the Charlotte area and in the last five years it reminds me of being back in Brick/Tom River New Jersey. Like I tell my friends back North, my area it the same as NJ but will better gun laws. However, there are still a lot of rural areas in NC left to get away from the masses. So I would suggest NC because you do have it all in NC.

I'm from Ca and I left for the East Coast. I was able to experience some of God's country and I highly recommend NC, SC, WV, TN. It just so happens I had to move back to Commiefornia for work supporting warfighters. I would move out again.

I lived in East Bay SF for 2.5 years and New Orleans the rest of my life. I would not move back to the Peoples Republic of California if you paid me. I have family and friends that live "on the North Shore" (Mandeville and Covington), you will like it over there except for the occasional traffic issues that you find just about everywhere in the country. If you like to eat, drink, hunt and/or fish you picked the right place. Start looking at boats. Nice white sand beaches to be found in Alabama and Florida three hours plus East. Plenty of duck hunting all around within and hour or two, deer hunting a little further out. Crime is way up currently in New Orleans but if you are looking for work as a cop, just think of it as job security.
