I noticed the note about feeler threads... I'm not considering whether or not to sell or a potential price. I just spent time on cars.com as a quick barometer. I have 2022 in the driveway. I'm curious about feedback on trading in vs private sale. I've done the below items to a 2014 Blue Ribbon 4x4 Platinum with ~101k miles. The question is does it matter enough to warrant private sale? Is it a waste of time? We all get mentally invested in our truck. I'm trying to level set my expectations. The truck should pass MD inspection other than the wheel spacers. My previous truck was 96 Dodge 2500 with a Cummins and I knew people would beat my door down for the truck. I'm a little less certain about this one.

      • Also installed 50 mil Kilmat in doors and under/behind rear seat

    Additional Exterior Items

    Thanks for the feedback.

You always get more selling yourself. Its up to you if you want to invest the time for that return. On average an individual can get 15-20% over trade-in value.

Depending on your state, if you trade it in, sales tax is the difference between trade in value and new truck price..

Like stated above, you could have traded it in and also taken a sale tax gain, if allowed in your state. Right now it looks like the market is coming down. If you want to sell it for top dollar now is the time. As for private or dealer, it’s up to you. I hate dealing with tire kickers. I have always had good luck with dealers. The add-on’s could help or hurt the value depending on who’s buying it.

The dealership could care less about all the mods and add on you did. In fact, they would probably prefer a stock truck. I would try to sell myself and get a little more money. And maybe you'll find someone that will appreciate all the mods you done.

Yeah I get it. There is also trade in tax credit in Maryland, so I need to make 6% more on private sale to offset taxes.

Yeah it's frustrating doing a private sale. I'm leaning towards trading it in. The dealer may or may not keep it. There is a mechanic at the dealership who wants to buy it - not sure how I want to handle that.

Yeah I haven't gone crazy with the mods which is part of the reason I was looking for a sanity check.

Is anyone is interested in this truck, I traded it into Bill Kidd's Toyota in Timonium MD.
