Was installing trd front sway bar yesterday. Of course I broke one of the plastic retainer nuts on skidplate. Looked online. Only place I could find was ebay. 5 bucks for one. Seems rediculous. Any suggestions of where to buy in bulk or at least a 5 pack. I change my own oil and I assume these will be breaking with frequency. Thanks. Bob

Zip ties work great. Bought a used TRD skid for $100 and it didn’t include clips. Zips have held up fine...as expected.

Super cheap at the dealer as others said. Before I upgraded my skid plate I think I broke one every oil change. Luckily I had a pack in the garage after the first time.

Broke a few myself. Bought 6 from my dealer and keep them in my tool box for future use as well.

What’s the OEM part number for these little plastic clips that sit the skid plate for the bumper to attach to? Broke one taking my skid plate off for the first time. I’m guessing the screw was torqued too much.

What you want to do is use zip ties to fasten that plastic piece up underneath. Then when you go to do your oil Changes, you only have five bolts to remove.
You won’t need to mess around with those three screws.

    much easier.

They always break. Pain in the ars. I just replaced the broken ones with some small bolts/nuts. They will not break! Zip ties sound like s great idea. Just let it hang down when you remove the bolts??

    Ditto this.
The clips are garbage. Figured that out the first time I dropped the skid plate.
    I use black zipties now.

Just had the 2021 Toyota Tundra in for the headlight recall and had an oil change done. One insert was left out. Found the Dorman 1/4" (#14) Nylon Nuts Part Number 961-351D inserted in the square hole of the skid plate and worked fine.

How does your recall repair look? Some dealers have butchered them. I'm not doing the recall on mine.

My repair looks fine (from the top of the engine bay looking down), it was all the collateral damage associated with the recall work at the dealership. The grill was left bolted on the top half, but the clips on the grill weren't pushed back into where they mate. The front air dam where it mounts to the skid plate, one insert/screw missing. The side panel below the headlight was not fully seated. I looked down into the area where the relays were added to the wire loom, that appeared to be okay, but I didn't disassemble like they had done in this thread to take pics of the recall work, https://www.tundratalk.net/threads/2018-21-headlight-wiring-harness-recall.772910/. If I had to do it over, I'd probably just change out the Halogens lights to LED to lower the current draw to keep from overheating. I guess the only good thing is at least the work is covered under warranty!

I would have been asking for someone well above the service manager. Pretty sad that you got the truck back like that.

Doing my first oil change on my newly acquired used 2017 2wd tundra I noticed my depending on what you call it (skid plate or radiator support splash shield or engine undercover) was missing and I am was looking online to buy another OEM part and each dealer on toyota parts.com calls it a different name ??

there are 2 different lower engine shields listed for my vin # and part#514100c030 says its for my 2wd specifically

I was wondering if the other lower engine shield with part #514100c010 which says for 4wd would also fit on my 2wd ?

Just checking to see if it would fit and if anyone else has installed it on their 2wd tundra ?

Did not want to be hit with the 35% restocking fee.

    thank you for any help

I have one coming off my ‘21 you can have if you want to pay for shipping. I was just going to throw it in the recycling bin.

I appreciate that....still trying to figure out if it would be a fit....from looking underneath it sure looks like it would work but toyota keeps telling me the 2017 2wd only takes the smaller shield...I'm not sure but I think the 2021 might be somewhat different but I sure do appreciate the offer
