minus the turning radius change I couldn’t be happier to be out of a 19 and into a 22. I have owned so many 2nd gens and put hundreds of thousands of miles on them, but the change was needed and necessary

No regretts at all.The 2022 is a master piece.Still have my 2016 and it seems so old after driving the 2022.Took it on a 1500 mile trip the day after I got it.rides about as nice as my wife's Lexus but has a lot more room.By the way I averaged 19.2 miles per gallon, was pleasantly surprised, sincethe 2016 never got more than 14

Went from a 2015 SR5 DC 2wd to a 2022 SR5 DC 4x4. I’ve had the 2022 since March and the new still hasn’t worn off. It’s such a pleasure to drive. Drove it from Arkansas to Colorado in July. It handled the open road with grace. Got a chance to put it in 4L and it handled a rough, steep road with ease.

Over 11,000+ miles I’m averaging 19mpg as opposed to ~15-16 in my old truck.

My only (very slight) reservations: 1) The recalls, which have been handled with ease. 2) My back seat, which isn’t as roomy (but I want the 6.5 bed without driving an overly long train, and it’s usually just my wife and I). 3) I hope this truck proves to be anything close to the ultra-reliable tank that my old one was…

Will the 2nd GEN rear sway bars work on the new trucks?

There are those who will never look back, and there are a few who regret making the jump (usually due to issues that are hopefully soon to be in the past if not already). You can find plenty of both on YouTube. Search 2022 Tundra things I love or things I hate. Lots of info. Judging by your purchase history, it doesn’t seem like it would take much to convince you to jump in, lol.
I don’t see how they would. Totally new design from the ground up, boxed frame and rear coil suspension included.

True enough... I took that leap today. $2700 under MSRP, 7yr/100K Platinum warranty, 4yr Toyota Care, and running boards of my choice.

it depends on the dealer. most that i know require minimum to have carpet floor mats. either way whether its carpet or all weather, that's an added option cost to the customer. saves about $200 if you dont want them and get aftermarket anyway. i would prefer no floor mats and save the $200 for husky's anyway.

I might be used to the lightning and CRV and not holding the brake hard enough. But does anyone else lurch forward when going from P to D at startup?

Tundra earned top safety pick +. Only truck in large class to have it. Far cry from previous gen safety ratings.

True. My old ass truck has old ass crash ratings to go with it. Apparently, the front driver side offset impact would crush your left leg
Interesting fact: this has absolutely nothing to do with why they removed the grab handle.

On cold start, periodically mine does. Upon startup it idles a bit high & if I go to D when it is, then it will lurch a bit. I confess I haven’t shown the patience to wait for idle to come down, or to see how long that takes. This is in colder mornings ( low teens, single digits Celsius) it seems as we get into fall.

@Breathing Borla i remember when you did the garage fit how snug it was. mine is pretty damn snug

This is my $1 insurance policy. Especially against my son who found the tail gate light button.

Yes, as well as in reverse. I am used to my Jeep which has a pretty crappy parking brake, so in both I just push the brake pedal hard before going into gear. It's a bit annoying, though.

Anybody else have an exposed wire in the passenger side front wheel well?

I haven't had a chance to trace it yet to see what it connects to. Not a big fan of exposed wire in this location...

Do I spy a zip tie around it too?
No Toyota factory/tech would "zip tie" anything at production, and especially leave a wire like this out...

Yes you do see a zip tie and I didn't think it would be left that way either. I'll be bringing it up at our next service appointment, or just swinging into the dealership on my next days off to ask about it.

Looks like a ground wire. Any special add ons from the dealer?

Not that I'm aware of. Only dealer installed add-on is the console vault.

Nope. I haven't had one installed.

Sometimes the dealer installs it before asking if you want it, and if you decline it, they never remove it and it’s just there. I’ve seen it a couple times before.

I doubt that's the case. This dealer doesn't install security systems, they outsource that type of work to one of the local install shops. They had the truck for less than 24 hours before I picked it up. They also aren't one of the dealers that installs random stuff then tries to charge extra, one of the reasons I use them. This really looks like something from the factory. I'm going to try to trace the wire this morning and I'll be bringing the truck to the dealer on my next days off to ask about it.

That comes from the factory here.

I tracer the wire which disappears into this bundle. It's grounded and seems to lead into the fuse box. There's a bunch of other wires which look half installed.

Can anyone else with a '22 look in your passenger front wheel well and under your hood to see if it looks like this?
