    I am about to get truck dyno tune by prospeed I have a cel because I removed the 2 front cats when I installed headers. They told me that they cannot erase the cel??? I thought tunning the truck would make the cel go away????

    At least in the Tacoma you absolutely can have those removed with HPTuners. Idk about Tundra but I'd assume it's the same...you basically turn off that monitoring PID

    Do you have o2 sensors in your pipe right out of the collectors?

    Have you put new sensors in? The code should tell you which one to replace. I've replaced both of mine.

    They should be able to disable the codes, I wonder if they just don’t want to disable any emissions related equipment. Not sure what the local laws are, but I’m sure they must do it all the time.

    Ok, so you installed headers, did you leave the set up like this:

    Headers => primary O2 => cats => secondary O2?

    or

    Headers => primary O2 => Secondary O2 => cats?

    Tunes can get rid of LEAN/RICH environments that can cause CEL. If the CEL is caused by missing hardware, they just disable the monitoring. It's not necessarily tuning it away. But you should find out what the CEL is reading if you can.

    Also do you have long tube headers? if so, is the primary 02 sensor after the merge of the 4 tubes or before? My Doug Thorley had both options. Preferred is after the collector but an O2 harness extension was required.

    You would rather use a simulator. Making the monitor not run keeps the cycle from being complete.

    I forgot about the O2 sims. Yes I did have the URD O2 sim on my primary sensor. However laws changed since then and URD no longer sells them. Idk who does

    You could try Fabspeed Motorsport O2 sensor spacers with mini-cats.

    I had them on my twin turbo Tacoma in El Paso, TX. Pricey option though and Fabspeed naturally doesn't guarantee success.

    That said, the CELs for p0420/30 can be turned off. I use VFTuner on behalf of YotaWerx Tuning and can confirm that they're available in the software to turn off via tune.

    One thing to mention that turning off the PID will still show up on emissions testing when they connect to the odb. The O2 sim will fool it. Likely the reason they can't be sold anymore

    In Texas, you can pass the safety inspection if you have no cel and if you have one monitored monitor in a not ready state. That info came straight from my buddy at the dealer when I had asked him, he's a service guy.

    Idk about the tundra but I'm assuming it's the same situation, but on the 3GT the rear sensors are not monitored. I passed the state inspection with both my p0420 and 30 turned off, with no CEL present. I was not catless, but had high flow cats. Not that it mattered, since the codes were off.

    You don’t need sims or even the mini cat spacers. Just plain 90 degree spacers will stop the 420/430 codes. You don’t have to bother with the 12v wiring for the sims either and they’re cheaper than the mini cat ones that may or may not actually work. My truck is straight piped because my cats were stolen. 90 degree spacers and no CEL for a few thousand miles now.

    I'm running 0 cats and 0 sims with 0 CELs.

    I have LT headers and 2 upstream sensors (Denso) with extensions from ARH.

    If you running the cats, why not just slot it between the primary and secondary? probably get rid of the codes and has no change in performance, you can buy harness extenders easily.

    Here is another question if i move the cats forward how would I go to attach the o2 sensor to the midpipes behind the cats without the female bung connector? Also I don't think I would need 02 extenders....the silver pipe is where the front cats were so if I moved the back cats to replace where the silver pipe the 02 harness actually reach

    Yes, that's all you have to do. Plug and play. And yes, you'll need to clear the 420/430 codes with a scan tool. Or take it to a parts store and they can clear them for you.
