Hey guys, just wondering from anyone with experience in getting some miles on these, besides the obvious hood and front bumper, where do these trucks attract the most paint wear/damage anyone seeing anything yet? Weird question i know but its helpful to know where i should PPF besides hood fenders and front end.

Great question. No chips on mine yet but I only have 2,500 miles. Looking forward to what others have to say.

Right in front of the rear tires if you don’t have running boards… my truck looks like it’s sand blasted back there with stock wheels and no spacers from sand and salt on the roads this winter… 99% is in the clear coat.. the stone guard they put there is way to small.
I’ll post pics when I get home

Platinum with 17k miles, a lot of highway time behind other vehicles. The grill & mustache are horribly soft and almost seem like chrome with a thin layer of tint. Both are completely peppered with rock chips already.

Very hard to tell from the photo. I agree it looks like some of it is just dirt. If that side is peppered with chips it makes me wonder how fast you drive on gravel roads. Some mud guards on the front and rear would help

About 15 km of dirt roads at a crawling pace
Washed just for you guys. And factory mud guards installed upon purchase.

first pic is wet to show most is in the clear coat..

    rest is dry.

it’s all road salt and sand from 2 months of winter.. I’ll find the pic where it shows the slush build up on that spot at some point.

you can tell the flare is all rough now as well

I live in the rustbelt so that's actually really concerning. Has anyone seen this issue on the long bed? I noticed that the 5.5 flares our way more aggressively than the 6.5 just in front of the rear tires.

It’s a full 2” bump out back there.. so either oversized mudflaps for the winter or running boards that rust in first year because they are gonna get hammered with salt and sand!

I would take it to dealer if tires and everything are factory, theres no reason the paint should self destruct like this seems like its a poor paint job to me being this is the side of truck in front of the rear wheel and not direct impact spots like front end or right behind tires.

It’s not self destructing.. it’s just literally getting hammered with road salt and sand all winter because the mud guards aren’t wide enough.. even on the highway just making general sweeping turns the tires are spraying past them and that’s where it’s going to land. If the box sides were the same width as the cab, this would be zero issue.

Looks like mine. I've got the stock mud flaps but they don't do much. Definitely from winter driving in the road sand.

When I first got mine it had running boards pre installed but no mud flaps. The amount of debris coming off the front tires onto the running board was quite large just on pavement. Not so much on the back. I had to put flaps on first thing or clean the boards constantly

I always have the A pillars done on my vehicles, and possibly the leading roofline above the windshield if I’m so inclined (in addition to the rest of the front that most folks normally have done).

I have about a foot or so of PPF along the entire bottom - the rocker panels, bottom of doors, and bottom of fenders up to flares. Basically everywhere that has the bumpy texture plus a few more inches. I also have the TRD cast aluminum boards. Some of my passengers think the tight profile of the boards make them useless as steps, but man do they act well as a shield against road debris.

Between the PPF and those TRD boards the bottom of those panels are staying in mint condition. Got my truck in Feb so caught the tail end of a Manitoba winter - and maybe more importantly, the crazy spring melt we had this year with more sand on the roads than I've ever seen before...

I had PPF installed in front of the rear tires. You can see the line where it stops in the picture IMG_0399.jpg
