Extended Warranty

I paid $3500 when I purchased the truck for the 10 yr/100,000 mile. Then a few weeks later I read this thread! I got hosed. Emailed the dealer and cancelled the plan, got full refund. Then used this thread to get contact info for a better dealer. In the end got the 8 year/75,000 mile for $935. Couldn’t be happier.

Also, I purchased my 2022 certified pre-owned. so I already have the power train warranty, but wanted bumper to bumper due to electronics. Am I able to up that to the toyota care platinum warranty as a second owner? I thought that’s what the dealer was giving me, and I asked specifically if it was a toyota warranty and he said yes. I didn’t have the actual warranty paperwork until my more thorough inspection was done today, and it is clearly a 3rd party warranty, which I didn’t want. the new paperwork shows “First Mile Warranty.”. It’s 84M/100K and covers bumper to bumper essentially, but I’d rather have the toyota warranty. It wasn’t astronomical in price ($1600), but I know from previous 4Runner (bought new) Toyota Care Platinum warranty that there are better deals through other dealers that can be purchased before factory warranty expires, which is what I did with the 4Runner. I’m just not sure how it works if I’m the second owner.

I think it does not matter how many owners as long as you purchase before initial Toyota warranty expires.
Contact the POC's with your second owner question to be sure.
You should canx that third party warranty as soon as you can so you can get your full money back.
