    So I took ownership of a 2019 about 2 weeks ago. Unfortunately the previous owner never bothered to take care of it. By which I mean, never bothered to wash it, vacuum it and certainly not wax it. As someone who enjoys detailing vehicles that drove me insane. So I went full bore on it. Spent about 4 days total on it. During which I polished it with VSS from Chemical guys, then Ceramic coated it with hydrocharge, ceramic waxed it, then glazed and sealed it. Unfortunately I have found a few placed that needed a little more aggressive of a cut to get the scratches out. But obviously I have ceramic coated it so that will be hard. My questions are, can I somehow get the ceramic off of just the areas that need the attention or what would my best option be? The whole truck could probably use a little more aggressive of a cut but the ceramic is on there now and I was impatient and used what I had instead of ordering better compound. Any suggestions?

    I'm trying to wrap my head around your process. I understand attempting the correction and then coating, but why then wax, glaze and seal? The up side is that you used Hydrocharge, which is a spray coating, and truthfully, is not really all that difficult to remove, if that's the direction you'd want to go. You could simply allow the current layers of protection to wear away some, and then strip off what is left and start over.

    You have bought yourself some time. There are a lot of good detailers on here, as well as on the Autogeek forum that will give you lots of good advice. Our very own Ckatz here on this forum is legit, and does some incredible work. Pick his brain a little.....you'll get advice on products and process that you'll find useful.

    I don't know anything about the ceramic coating but dish detergent removes wax so it may work on ceramic too.

    Even a spray coating will need to be polished off....dish detergent will not remove it

    I was following the recommendation of the guys at the Chemical guys. I may end up stripping it and using a more aggressive cut. Wish I had found the deep scratches prior to the ceramic but live and learn. Certainly won’t rush the next time. Thanks for the info I’ll see what Ckatz recommends.

    A lot of people start out with CG stuff, and then move on. Sounds like you are going to join that group

    The ceramic can be removed with polish. No need for an aggressive cut. If using ceramic there is no need for glaze and wax other than to sell more products.

    Welcome. I’ve had to do the same thing before. :mad:

    I use a variety of brands Carpro, Gyeon, GTechniq, Shine Supply, Optimum, and to a lesser extent Adams.

    No chemical lies. :rofl::rofl::rofl:

    Ammo nyc is great stuff across the board, expensive tho. Griots is good for certain things as well for a less expensive / easier to get option.

    The link to the 'ask the detailer ' thread will be helpful. Like a lot of folks, I started with Chemical Guys. At one time, I had detailing products from about 25 different companies/sellers ...I'm down to about a dozen right now. One thing you will find.....at least in my opinion...is that there's no 'best'....only 'favorites' based on experience(s). Meguiars has a very solid product line, as does Griots Garage, Car Pro, 3D, Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions, Gyeon and Bilt Hamber. I'm always willing to ship (4 oz) samples of stuff I have on hand (as long as I have enough) so people can try before they buy.
