Got in the truck yesterday morning and noticed the sunshade was wet. Took it to the dealership first thing and the update I got in the afternoon was that they couldn't replicate the issue. They're holding it for another day to see if they can make some progress.

Look at me! I'm a statistic!

Shit I’m so sorry this happened to your pano roof Oslem. Also it sucks that the dealer is “trying to replicate the issue”. What are they going to do, wait until it rains? Or dump massive buckets of water on your brand new Tundra? They need to fix it immediately under warranty repair. What’s even more concerning is that this isn’t the first time I’ve heard of this issue. So far my pano roof is working fine with no leaks but I’m worried this might be a ticking time bomb for all of us. Very concerning to see all of these issues in our trucks. Good luck Oslem, I hope the dealer completes the warranty repair ASAP.

I have an insider who works for Dodge in Ontario Canada. He says they have the same issues with the Ram trucks. Avoid at all cost. Seems Pano roofs are a pain in the butt for a lot of manufacturers.
Can't wait for my new 1794 with the Pano roof, to come in *sarcasm* :p

I had a 2020 raptor with a pano. It was nothing but headaches. Had to have the entire thing replaced within 6 months. Then after that it was still problematic. Not sure if I’d get one again.

The truck is still with the dealer. No significant updates yet. I have to admit, I really like the feeing of openness that comes with a pano. But if it’s at the cost of many headaches, then it might not be worth the cost. Only time will tell.

I’ll report on updates as I get them.

The answer they gave you is such shit. There is literally evidence of water coming in. What a joke.

I do not have a Tundra with a sun roof, but I have other cars with them.

There is usually a gutter around the sun roof, with a drain at each corner. Usually it is one of the drains that get clogged up. The other thing I have noticed is if you are parked on a steep incline during a deluge rain. The rear two drains get over worked and can not handle the volume of water.

Yep pretty common with the Raptors, guys who have had them don't order them again, sisters Ram leaks too seams to be a problem with all manufacturers. That sucks Oslem hope they get it fixed for you. If I don't clean the drain holes out in my Sequoia every 3 months or so it leaks as well.

Most dealer service departments have a sprayer in a frame type thing with nozzels on the top and sides. It looks like the part of a drive thru carwash when you go under the rinse.

They should be checking the drain holes in the A pillars. Did you happen to take it through a carwash recently?

Thanks for the pointers on the drain holes. I haven't owned a vehicle with a sunroof before so I'll need to make sure I check those from time to time in the future. The dealership still has the truck so I'll ask about that when I talk to them today. As of yesterday afternoon they still didn't have an idea of why it's leaking.

They told me that they've been running my truck through the car wash. So at least it'll be very clean by the time I get it back. I hope it's a touchless wash!

I haven't run it through a carwash recently, but we had a pretty decent rain storm the night before I noticed the water.

Last update for now. The dealership was unable to reproduce the problem and made a poor attempt at cleaning up the staining. I had to argue with them for over an hour to convince them to bring in a professional detailer to get the stains out. The guy I was working with was great, but the dealership sucks. Anyhow, I have the truck back now and hopefully the teardown and cleaning they did will somehow magically prevent this from happening again.

Never had a pano roof do that but then again never had a Ford or Dodge. Hope yours was a fluke for Toyota!

Dude, they actually saw a stain and tried to clean it, after saying they couldn't replicate? Unreal. The evidence is right there!

My previous car had a pano roof. It was fine for a year, then it began to creak and rattle, then the seals began to fail. At year 2 of ownership the entire pano assembly was replaced under warranty.
I had considered to buy the car after the lease was up, but the fact that pano roofs are so expensive and I read lots of bad from every manufacturer, I decided against keeping the car.

Every vehicle I owned with a sunroof leaked at one time or another. Once they started leaking, I couldn't get them to stop.

When I picked up my Gen3 without one, my wife who loves sunroofs sez "No Sunroof?" I said, "No leaks".

    The unfortunate truth of sunroofs.

I use mine from time to time. I like it, but I would much rather not have it. Sunroofs leak. Sooner or later, if you don't keep the drain tubes cleaned out, or the weatherstrip dries up, or it rains too hard for your drains to handle, you will get a leak. My wife's cadillac sunroof leaked and a bunch of water pooled into the spare tire compartment, which also houses the computer chip that controls the rear hatch. That was a super fun one. The replacement part for that from GM was like $700. Thankfully, there was a company making 3rd party ones selling on Amazon for $80. There was no visible evidence of that leak on the headliner like this either. Just a 4 inch deep puddle of water in the spare tire well that I discovered after the rear hatch stopped working.

My current car, the sunroof is known to leak. The pass front drain can come loose at the firewall bulkhead, and it drains into the BCM mounted below it. Causes all kinds of havoc!

And it is parked outside at all times in the Seattle area. I can't wait for that ticking time bomb!
