How do you calibrate speedometer after bigger tire size?

Except it’s not always the same 5 mph difference. And your odometer will be off, along with mpg and other calculations. Installing a speedometer calibrator isn’t difficult, either, so that should just be budgeted into your tire purchase.

 

If you buy cheap tires, you should have plenty left for recalibration.

 

I know it's not always the same 5mph. But it is always the same percentage.

When i went from stock to 33s on my jeep, that made an 11% difference.

So i know when the speedo says 40, I'm doing 44.4. When it says 65, I'm actually doing 71.

And when it comes time to calculate fuel economy, i just add 11% to the odometer reading. 300 miles is 333 miles.

This isn't rocket science.

 

Over all distance Mileage decreases value and nominal maintenance rate...

 

Just add 11%! It’s so simple.

Or spend $200 and 15 minutes on a calibrator… a drop in the bucket on a set of new tires…

 

Did it to my 08 with hyper tech and can verify it changes the shift points for the better. Dash install easy 30 min. I didn’t have the pedal commander on that one. Pedal commander adjusts shift points as well. Since that was my only worry I’ll stick with adding speed up in my head

Pedal commander does not adjust shift points. It only affects throttle response.

 

Pedal commander re maps the throttle response in the pedal which in turn adjusts the shift points and holds gears longer

 

No it does not. TOW/HAUL does what you say. PC only mutes or amplifies the throttle response it does nothing with shift points. You need another method to modify those.

I can’t remember if you have remote start, but have you heard of this product affecting remote start?

 

I have a Hypertech calibrator and remote start - no issues from them interfering. What are you seeing happen?

 

Nothing personally.
I was using the google machine to get some reviews.
That issue popped up a few times.
Thinking about getting one.
I have the Car Link remote start.
Going to 37’s has me doing 80 @ a 71 mph reading.
I don’t feel like doing math on the fly because I have to access my phone calculator, then that messes up my texting, posting on tundras, shuffling music and following google maps.

 

We really need to go back to simpler times, where people just read the newspaper or magazines while driving.

I have a Fortin with the CL6 cellular module. Works great. I can’t really see where the Hypertech would interfere, since that is plugged inline with the gauge cluster and the remote start doesn’t touch that.

That was my thinking as well.

I still do this sometimes... unfortunately I only have 1 or 2 mugs that fit the Tundra cup holder well. It's a fun game, trying to wedge the cup in a way that it stays put while driving and is still removable when I want another sip.

 

So after my 33's wear out, I'm going to run 35X12.50R18 or get some rock warrior wheels and do the same, but obviously, it would be a 17" wheel. But anyway, I have 275X70R18 ridge grapplers right now, so if I were to get a ridge grappler or maybe a BFG KM3 in this bigger size (I guess it really doesn't matter which tire it is) my speedo would say I'm going 60, but I'm really going 66? that seems like a pretty big jump to me. Plus my tundra gets to drive like a racecar and sometimes goes to 70 on mountain roads, so I would be going 77? Might have to get that rough country recal after all.

 

If you are worried about resale value, then don't do any modifications. Modifications only decrease value.

And again, just adjust your maintenance intervals by the percentage difference between your stock and new tires. Or don't. It's not that big of a deal.

 

Or save $200 and do simple math.

The 21 Pro has Toyota factory start. I’ve not had any issues, and no idea why it would cause problems

 

My commute is too windy and bumpy for the first 7 miles out of the hills. I have to have my coffee covered or it’ll spill all over and get cold

 

We’ve got two travel mugs with lids…… one hold the heat well, the other not so well; I do prep them with hot water while the French press is doing it’s thing, but I usually give my mom the lesser heat retention cup…….. I’m terrible! But she sips for hours, so I’m doing her a favor if anything.
