I have morimoto gen2 heads and the new tails. I had a hyperflash issue but it was fixed when i added the included resistors to my tails.

That's what I'm doing as well, after trying to file a warranty claim they wouldn't go for it so Colton said he would send me a replacement set. My right one isn't bad at all, the left though looks similar to yours and pretty rough. I don't quite understand how you can pay a nice amount for taillights that clearly have a defect and they just chalk it up to the design of the mold. I get that there is a darker area on the middle inside, but it shouldn't be so irregular and chipped.

How long have you been trying to get it replaced?

It was a week or so going back and forth with Morimoto trying to get them to cover it under warranty and then middle of last week when Hot Shot said they put in the order for the replacement sent. Haven't heard anything recently though.

Yeah I don't want to get in the business of doing this, but I wanted to make sure you were made right because I didn't like it either so I'll be essentially eating this set :anonymous:. I'll be able to resell them though (probably here) if I can't get Morimoto to take them back so I'm not too concerned. I just wanted to make clear that Hotshot Offroad is NOT the Morimoto warranty department

Did anyone have any issues installing these on the drivers side? The resistor keeps meeting the tailgate assist arm so there’s resistance when closing the tailgate.
    Any recommendations?

So something told me to walk to the rear of my truck when the lights are on and make sure the parking lights were on. For some reason the tails do not light up when the heads are on. the brake light, and turn signals work but no running lights. I double checked the fuse under the hood since the instructions that came with the heads said to pull the wrong fuse and I did in fact plug it in the right spot which is the fuse slot above where the instructions say to put it and the fuse is good to go. I pulled the fuse under the drivers side panel labels TAIL and that fuse is good to go also. I even went as far as putting my OEM tails back on and sure enough those no longer work either.... Seems like a fuse issue and i havent gone and pulled each fuse out to check each one yet because its been raining the past few days but i think i will need to. Any other idea of what it could be? I'm supposed to get a vehicle inspection at the end of the week so i can get new plates since i moved but without the parking lights working i wont pass.

I just hung mine loose on the drivers side and tried to zip tie it the best I could to the other harnesses.

I gotta say that the past two weeks of dealing with my Morimoto heads and tails has been a pain in the ass. However, thank you to @memario1214 and @Tundra234 for the comments and advice on my questions. @memario1214 spent some time with me on the phone and emailed me back and fourth multiple times. I got everything working finally! So just in case anyone else has this issue i'll post below the fix.

The hyperflash on my heads were fixed when I installed the included resistors with the tails. The turn signals and brakes worked without issue after that until i decided to check if the running lights worked on my tails. turned out the license plate light, tails, and third light on top of the cab had no light when it was dark outside and my heads were on. (easy way for a quick ticket when driving at night) So in July of 2020 Toyota issued a recall for trucks with front turn signals and front hazard warning lights that do not flash brightly enough. To fix the recall the basically moved one wire in the headlight turn signal harness (picture below) and fixed their issue. At the time i didnt have Mori heads/tails so when they did my recall everything was good. However, fast forward 2 years and i install them the issue came. After a few days of working with @memario1214 and Mori tech guys I "un-did" the recall. At first no luck and nothing changed. However, I checked the kick panel 10A "TAIL" fuse and it was blown. After i replaced the fuse BANGO everything up and running! So long story short if you have a 20 PRO with the recall completed for the turn signals you MUST un-do the recall to get your heads/tails working properly.

Side note though I have ZERO clue as to why this isnt something mentioned in the make shift Mori instructions or anywhere on the website. I highly doubt I'm the first one to have this issue... Especially it literally took Mori not even 12 hours to email me the fix.

I bought the Morimoto headlights in 2019 for my 2018 and had issues from the first day. It took numerous emails back and forth that involved Morimoto and several other distributors trying to fix it. I finally got this fix this January. Customer Service

I can't even believe that this recall was a thing in the first place... Do you know what years were affected by it? This was such a dumb thing to have to try and troubleshoot

Any idea on when/where these are available? Checked a few sites and they all seem to be back ordered.

Supplier is experiencing delays, and the latest ETA on a restock for any of us is early November.

I have a 2020 TRD pro that arrived a week before the recall about the dim lights and when I provided my VIN to Toyota they said my truck was not affected. Do you think in my case id have to switch those 2x wire pins? Anyone with a 2021 trd pro and mori gen 2 headlights able to confirm this?

Im asking because I am really really tempted to buy the new morimoto headlights and take up that free foglight offer.

Those foglights really aren't that good. Most people sell them and go with something else.

I pulled up next to a buddy who has them and came away impressed when compared to my oem rigid fogs.

Can someone post up a picture of their tails with the red lens? I know HR's website has some, but it would be nice to see some more.

The light recall I believe only impacted trucks originally equipped with halogen headlights so your Pro shouldn't be affected. :notsure: Either way I have a '21 Limited, was not impacted by the recall, and have Gen2 Morimoto headlights. Zero issues.

Also, if you want to jump on the deal let me know. We can help you out here at Hotshot Offroad
I'm thinking that you're thinking of the Morimoto XB fog lights. They were the first to the game, and they are admittedly pretty poor. @RoniusMaximus is talking about the 4Bangers. They are a far better product. I still believe that the SS3 Max is a better fog light, but the new 4Bangers in HXB output is a solid performer. And considering they can be added in FREE upon purchasing a set of XB headlights they are a pretty solid upgrade.

That is correct. I was referring to the Morimoto fogs. I forgot that they were including the 4Bangers with new orders now.

This is correct, just the halogens.

What I've been trying to figure out is if I still need to get the recall done since I have the morimoto xb headlights already. I'd actually installed them before finding out about the recall. Haven't had any issues, but I also understand it to be the risk of fire when using your brights and my lows with the XBs are plenty bright, so I never use my highs lol

Anyway, point being is that idk if the factory harness leading into the aftermarket harness + housing removes the risk or not?
