Let me first say I am new to this forum so I am fickle as a flame with what I want to do with my truck. Too many mods! lol

At first I wanted to black out my truck (2014). Now I am thinking about de-badging it altogether.

My only concern is the condition of the paint/body under the badges. I purchased my tundra new in 2014 and it has been outside since 2014, my wife's vehicle gets the garage. haha.

I understand every truck is different, but what should I expect to do IF I de-badge the truck?

I would also like to take off the TRD stickers. Im sure those are a bear to deal with.

The current plan would be to chrome delete with super white. painted bumper shellz, add LED head lamps and de-badge. (I think the new painted bumper shellz may not match perfectly with current paint job since its a 2014)

    Any help would be appreciated.

I debadged my 14 last spring, no issues. I think being 040 helped to avoid any ghosting or darker outline remaining from behind the badges. I used wd40 for decal residue (just dealer sticker). Love the clean look and easier washing. I say go for it, no regrets:)

Did you use heat gun/hair dryer with fishing line like i've seen recommended on here?

Yeah I used a similar process:
-cautious heat gun use, lifted badges with an old plastic flipper (a plastic putty knife would be ideal- according to the pancake chef anyway lol). Also used the a bit of heat to push along the bulk of the blackish adhesive under the badges to form a ball to pull off (much easier than scrubbing it all off).
-WD40 and an old sweater to get the remainder of the dark adhesive off.
-WD saturated paper towel and elbow grease to get remaining white adhesive.
-Dawn powerwash spray to remove ghosting from wax around the decals
-Glass cleaner to clean up any residual.
-Full truck dawn wash and wax with the old standby collinite insulator.

debadged, diamondback, window tint, dirty deeds exhaust.
I have debadged my truck and wires car. Makes it so much easier to clean. A good dental floss or fish line and comes of really easy. Heat gun or even good hair dryer will help a lot. Then just use a good cleaner and wax/buff job and never notice anything was there.

We just did our Rav4 last week.

Do it when it's HOT and Sunny out. Let them get warm and soft naturally.

Light use of hair drier or LOW heat gun. Keep it far away and constantly moving. You only need a few seconds. A second set of hands to work the drier is helpful.

Some 15lb fishing line, get it under a corner, saw and lightly pull towards you (against the badge, not the paint). They should come off in one piece, leaving behind all the tape and residue.

GooGone or something similar to remove the tape and residue. Polish, spot wash and wax. Done.

To be honest, I don't even care if they don't ...I know it is, what trim level, engine and where I bought it.

It always amazes me how many people allow dealer badges/decals to remain on their vehicle. We even removed the LP covers with the dealer advertising on them.

Dealer badges and decals never stay on my vehicle unless they want to pay me. lol
Truck make a model badges are different in my book. This would be my first truck to debadge.

I took off a few emblems and the bed decal.
I'd NEVER use a heat gun on Toyota paint.
I flossed mine off with a heavy fishing line and removed residue and the decal with a 3M eraser wheel..

I was in the same position as you but with a 12 platinum. Had chrome everwhere.....I started with the i-force badge and liked it. Then just started removing the rest, the more I removed the more I liked it. I used a heat gun on low and very sparingly as to not damage the paint, then lightly pried with a plastic shim tool. Next used goo gone to remove the goop left behind, then polished and buffed. You can't tell where the badges were at at all.

I debadged my "21 Limited Double cab the day after I bought it new. Heat gun helped. Closely surround the badges with blue painters tape to protect the paint. I plan on dechroming it too.

What have you done so far? Mine just needed GooGone, light spot polish by hand, wash and wax.

Is that paint ghosting/fading or I'm thinking it's debris on residue?

Removed, goo gone got the dark glue residue. Then I’ve waxed and polished. Seems like it gets better the more I reapply wax and buff. If that makes sense.

I am by no means a finishing or paint expert.

But it looks like whatever you are doing is working.

You may be left with the ever so slightest ghosting, but it should go away over time and you'll be the only one who's eyes are drawn to it as you'll know it's there or where it was.
