can you explain the process and or pros or cons of removing that axel nut dust cover. I ordered and returned those exact center caps because they didn’t fit the front tires. I would really like to add them.355305C8-778F-411E-AB71-3E43B806BD6E.jpg

The dust cover just prevents dust and rust with in the years witch I know I wouldn't mind knowing I use the truck for off roaing and daily use and i know it's going to get dirty I don't have them on my old tacoma either I don't mind them off especially to make them fit

Thanks again, I appreciate it. Did I read your earlier message correctly, you’re not concerned about leaving the cap removed? I’m not mechanically inclined but I just want to be sure keeping them removed won’t do any long term damage.

Id just smear something on the end of the axle threads to prevent rust and assist with removing the nut if needed. Maybe anti-seize or a waxy product like Boeshield T9. In fact, I’d do this anyway since I’m in the northeast. Don’t worry about not having the dust cover.

Doesn’t the dust cover keep dirt, water and winter salt out of the bearing race?

I got the TRD center caps installed. I removed the dust caps, hammered them down so they were a little more “flat” and then managed to reinstall them. The TRD caps fit and I still have functioning dust caps. 17EE6440-D8AE-44B2-9581-19FC64AA9CC3.jpg265ABB74-F552-4A67-9ECC-5F78E6C46893.jpg

I would be happy to sell them, I’m up in Canada though so I’m not sure about the shipping costs.88FD2223-DE74-4CE4-8A70-2A6B2819C54C.jpg3C73D0FB-73A6-4DF0-90BB-D29D3493ADA2.jpg

I like the little touch of red, ties in well with the TRD vinyl I put on the front grille.745D7B73-A62D-4CA2-A04C-8D6DC4DAE895.jpg
