Indeed. Some half-assed scouting in the elk hunt area (excuse to use the RTT and hang with a buddy), yard work, laundry, and shopping for a new hunting rifle.

This is my last elk hunt. I didn't even want to do this one. Only put in to help a friend's draw odds, because there was no way we would draw.... and we did.

Why is it your last hunt? What was the tag you drew?

 

I've never loved it like hard-core hunters do, so the cost isn't worth it. I've never been a trophy hunter, and I'd rather hunt antelope. Simpler hunt and I can pack one out on my shoulder. I hate quartering and packing elk.

Looking at a Weatherby or a Bergara. 300 PRC, 300 Win Mag, 6.5 PRC are top pics for caliber, but ammo availability might make the decision for me.

They're dumb. They know the are faster than anything on the continent, so as long as you stay far away they are derps.

You know where I live…the financial and time commitment from “here” is too much. Plus, I want to enjoy it. Not be stressed about getting my tag filled in the one day I have to hunt.

 

I was up and had to put a tank of gas in the truck before 6:00 a.m. Not the ideal way to start hump day.

 

I got 17.6 on a long drive home yesterday and thought I won the lottery.
