Toyota Platinum Warranty - 125,000 / 8 years = $1285.00. Whoops, sorry, that's my 2019, I guess Yota knows what actually is reliable.

 

Id love the info on the warranty if possible.

Picking up a 22 today, was going to go with USAA extended warranty but just found out the ended it in 2018...so if anyone got a connection or info i would greatly appreciate it, thanks

I did purchase an extended warranty for my Tundra when I purchased it. However, typical Tundra and it’s good quality, I never needed to use the warranty before it aged/miled out.

I now have a new perspective on extended warranties after purchasing a RV. The dealer wanted to sell me an extended warranty for $7k and 3rd party warranty was about $5k. After some extensive research I discovered that the best strategy was to self bankroll the warranty. Basically put the money in your own pot each month instead of paying a 3rd party and use those funds for any future repair. Out of all my research I could not find a single person that did not come out ahead money wise using this strategy. However I did come across a vast number of folks complaining about denied warranty claims for stupid “escape clauses”.

 

for the small amount I paid for the 7yr 125kmile $0 deductable it is piece of mind just in case. 1275

 

I agree with that and don’t regret buying one for my Tundra. It’s a relative small amount. However, an RV warranty is vastly more and I think a waste of money.

Found this link to the info for the coverage of the Platinum zero deductible extended warranty. My dealer wanted to sell me 10 yr 125,000 warranty for $4,100. He did make valid points that if you are going to keep the car for a long time it makes sense. He said there are so many computers on these trucks now when they go out of warranty the computers are not covered... Under the extended warranty they are.

How many miles can you get a warranty for? I drive a lot and will easily get to 200,000 miles in 8 years, is there such a thing as a 200k warranty?

 

nope... 125k is the max. do the math...125k÷ miles expeted to drive per year = years of warentee to buy

 

Just picked up my truck yesterday. Finance guy went hard on the sell of the warranty at $3,800!??!! I told him I would happily purchase if he could match the offer I received from @TBS

He acted shocked and said the best he could do was $1,950 for the 10 yr/100k mile. And he “showed me the computer” like they always like to do - if it’s on the computer you know they’re giving you the best deal they can. Haha needless to say I said nah thanks and currently in process of buying from the contacts.

Before I had gone in to the finance guys office I asked how much I could put on a credit card (love to get those miles ) and he said the limit was $5,000 since they charge a fee. BUT he would help me out and do a bit more. After I rejected all his add on BS, he said “Ya I will only do $5,000” and straight up said it was because I didn’t buy anything else… kind of a douche bag move… but the rest of my experience was great. So overall I chalk it up as a win.
