Nobody warned me about the Crewmax back window sand dispenser

I took the family to the beach this weekend in the Tundra - first time pickup owner. By the end of the day, the bed was basically a sandbox. Well - like an idiot - I got on the highway, dropped the back window and POOF - brand new truck full of sand.

So it turns out, anything in the bed is now in the truck when the window opens?! Lol. Lesson learned.

The bed becomes a high air pressure zone when moving. Mythbusters did an episode about better mileage with the tailgate down (debunked) and did some "aerodynamic testing" with a toy truck in a fish tank.

I learned this the hard way also. Although my experience wasn't quite as bad as yours. :D
I like rolling down the window, so now I hose out the bed after hauling anything that gets it dirty.

Tonneau cover corrects this issue. Still get the inrush of air from the back but nothing can come out of the bed.

I learned the hard way that all that ice cold water on your roof slides off the roof, is blown in the back window, and will soak you. So don't put the back window down in December when your roof is wet. Lol

Heavy morning dew or after a rain, I rolled mine down in the drive way pulled away and all the water that was sitting on my roof went down the back into the cab. Seats soaked. Live and learn.

Should have kept mine for "just in case". Off topic Brian.. Should I paint my new gloss black grille..... 07 Slate Metallic to be like a RW?, or go with matte black liner (maybe Durabak or Line -x) which my new bumper will be??

I laughed a little harder at this than maybe I shoulda' or maybe not enough :p

I forgot I had some water up on my RTT and like an idiot at the end of my driveway once I slowed down a bit... WHOOSH entered some water...
Kids + water = soaked (before school) = late arrival.

Yeah a truck, any truck back window never was meant to be open while moving. Ones that open are good for camping, carrying long items, good with a camper top..etc. way too much wind comes in that back window while driving. Might not hurt to just open it an inch or two. JMHO.
Besides that its way too damn hot in the south right now. I dont open my side windows. Conditioned Air just feels too good.

I drive with my rear window down on the highway all the time and very little wind comes into the cab. If I open another window with it that's a different story. But the rear window by itself produces minimal airflow.

Rear window + sunroof on a nice evening is about perfect. Hardly any noise but lots of fresh cool air.

I thought all Crew Max trucks came with warnings and disclaimer stickers regarding use of the rear window and loading material in the dinky bed.

Sunroof cracked and back window partially open is a great way to pass a good fart to your passengers in the Summer heat...... I recommend everyone try it.
