Would like to go from 20” factory wheels down to 18” wheels. I’m thinking if I keep the same Diameter but gain sidewall and more rubber just not a fan of 20” wheels or the look. TIA

    TIA to you as well.

Not sure what we’re are thanking people for but it’s cool nonetheless.

But to your original post… was there a question?

Sorry if I wasn’t clear with my question. I currently have 20” wheels and tires. It’s a 2016 1794 limited edition. Can I run 18” wheel and tires instead? Is there anything I’d have to change like hubs etc. TIA

Careful about tire poke when you drop down to 18 from 20. depends on your style of wheel, etc

You have to reset something and for the life of me I can't remember what it is. After going from stock 20's to 17's my dash lit up like a xmas tree with every light. Someone posted I could reset it by jumping two pins with a paperclip which i decided not to do. Ended up going to the dealer which charged me 150.00 to do it in under 3 minutes. Hopefully someone chimes in with what it was.

You can run down to 17 inch wheels. I have 17s. It improved the ride, reduced the chance of wheel rubs on curbs. Most importantly, when I drop my tire pressure for more traction my tires are wider than a 20 would be because the sidewalls can flex out more. You shouldn't have any problem going to 18 inch wheels.

18”s are no problem. Any of the OEM 18” wheels and a whole host of aftermarket 18” wheels are available for your truck.

You will gain sidewall which at a minimum will improve ride quality. Also the 18” wheel is lighter and the wheel and tire combo will end up lighter, and a reduction in unsprung mass is always beneficial to efficiency and ride quality, particularly when it is also a decrease in rotational mass.

Big wheels on a truck for the sake of being big for cosmetics is stupid. The only reason a truck should run wheels that large is because the brakes are so massive they won’t fit with anything smaller. That is not the case with the Tundra, or any other 1/2 ton I’m aware of. Unfortunately buyers want the look of big bling wheels on their pickup trucks. Most of them should just buy cars instead.

I applaud your decision to pursue functional improvements to your Tundra, returning the capabilities the truck should have had to begin with.

I’m curious what this is since I will be doing this soon. Also did you replace your TPMS sensors when you switched? I read the batteries only last 5 years

Yes i replaced TPMs because they were different from my method 20’s to RockWarriors. Ill dig around and see if i can find what is needed to reset on the computer to recognize a different wheel size. Maybe speed sensor?

OMG. Embarrassed because my recollection is failing. It wasnt the sensors, it was the lug nuts that were different sizes due to the depth/flange.
    But…….
They replaced the tpms sensors because they broke one during swap over. They had aftermarket ones there. Sorry about that. Youre questions are triggering my memory. I need a journal. Lol.
Im pretty sure its a speed sensor cali ratio. Going to a different size wheel in my case 20’s to 17’s.
