After reading through the recent 10K vs 5k oil change thread (https://www.tundras.com/threads/10k-vs-5k-mile-oil-change.110979/#post-2863844) I was slightly overdue for an oil change anyway, so I saved some oil to send in for analysis and ordered the kit. I was pleasantly surprised by the results:
    "
KELLY: Your Tundra looks great in its first report (as many Toyotas tend to). Our averages for the 5.7L are
based on a shorter interval of about 6,600 miles, so the fact that your engine produced lower readings after
10,200 miles means not only is it wearing well, it's wearing well for a Toyota. Nice! The oil held up well, too.
The 7.54 cSt viscosity reading is perfectly in spec for a 0W/20-grade oil, and no measurable contamination
was found. The 4.1 TBN shows additive left for more use, so run the next fill around 12,000 miles if you
    want to."

No, I don't plan to run it longer. This is the first time I broke 10k in this truck. I generally try to plan my oil changes when I hit 500 miles prior to it being due, and I do take into consideration how the truck has been used during that period. I use Toyota oil so that may be part of why it did so well.

A good testimony for Toyota's 5.7 for sure. Mine has always had positive results. And I'm still running close to 25K between oil changes. Tried a 7.5K change a couple years ago, just to see how much a difference there would be in the analysis. Hardly any difference at all.

@Bakershack what brand of oil did you use and was analyzed?

And heads up that your full contact info is on undying report.

Do you inspect your filters? I do and have been pleasantly surprised with both my 124 and Tundra. Only a few tiny slivers of aluminum is all I've ever found. I can't remember if it was Lycoming or Continental that said if your engine made less than a bottle cap full of metal at the first oil change to not worry about it.:eek2: I didn't ask if that was a level or heaping bottle cap.:monocle:

I change the filter with every oil change. I have seen nothing but oil dripping from them. And I primarily use Toyota oil, which I even the Toyota folks say is Mobil1 with some extra additives. If for some reason I cannot get the Toyota oil, I will get the Mobil1.

The 5 VS 10 came with the video of the mechanic and he mentioned that the oil analysis doesn’t paint the entire story.
I think everyone has their own comfort zone. For me, it’s 5K.
