Sorry...I just finished 3 days of being the only person in my group working. The other two dudes are out on vaca. Yesterday was a dumpster fire but I had about 6 hours today of freedom and helpful people. It was Twilight Zone crazy good.

On a separate note, I'm driving my son to his SAT test tomorrow and have 3+ hours to kill. So since RV row is about 2 miles away, I'm going to kick tires.

Report back on what you find.

This winter would be a good time to buy, especially late Dec before the new year. Lots are jam packed with inventory. RV production caught up with demand right as the price of gas went sky high, bad timing for them

    I’m lame
    I don’t own a TV
I don’t ever take time to watch movies
I don’t give a shit about sports except MAYBE one baseball or football game a year
I work 50-60 hours a week, plus an hour each way commute
I hardly communicate with anyone outside my immediate family and the people I have met in here (except at work)

so fantasy football is lost on me

Yeah. The ‘23s are showing up too, so the ‘22s are on heavy discount. Will be interesting to see how desperate they are since it is the end of the month.

I honestly look forward to weekends/times when no one is home. Just me and the animals and no one else. More than a few times I’ve thought about going on a hike and never returning. I know if my wife ever leaves me or dies, I’ll end up full hermit

A photo from a couple weeks ago, but worth a $.02 comment. We were in Tacoma (wife was going in for a medical procedure) B4CD27D7-29F4-462D-B833-96F90DCCDD4B.jpg and needed a snack as it was to early for dinner. We found a place that did pöke nachos. We must have been hungry, as it hit the spot. I must admit it sounded weird but I’d get it again.

Dark…but funny. And I’m in the same boat too. At least in my fantasy world.

Fantasy football is actually not that bad. It does make the games more fun to watch (not necessarily fun; just more fun). My dark side loved watching my buddies that played football as a kid completely lose their shit when I schooled them. Dudes with spreadsheets and decades of watching ESPN. I honestly know zero about plays and tactics and very little of the positions other than the obvious. It drove them nuts.

Ah, I guess I should be clear. I don't fix it. I report that it's broke to the tech's that do go fix it. Then I juggle the info and questions from them and everybody else until it gets fixed. Heaven forbid anyone look at the ticket where I add the info I get from the techs. Much better to call or IM me. Better yet, don't share what I told you with your group. Let them all contact me individually to ask for the same information. :goingcrazy:

    LMAO.

I don't think any one person is a big part of it. We are all little cogs in a very big machine for it, but I appreciate the appreciation. I'm well paid for what I do. Possibly overpaid when just going off my job title, but I am also not as singularly focused/responsible as most with my title. Have to handle a lot more than most with my title, so I'm paid appropriately. Not that I wouldn't love to make more, but I cannot say I'm underpaid.

That's a good position to be in, better than the opposite.
Our union wages are at or above average, that doesn't stop us from shaking the coffee cup in front of management when contract talks are brewing. :D

Definitely in a good position, though the last couple years the economy ate way more than my annual raise gave me. I know I'm not alone on that one.:boom:

I don't know if I could work a union job. I've seen too many be either completely useless/toothless, or over zealous and willing to bankrupt a company even when the employees don't want to push. I already have trust issues, but I really don't trust anyone that wants a bite of my paycheck before I've even gotten it.

Totally understand, I see both sides. I've seen plenty of shitty people in and out of the union.

Doing some rough math: The dues I'll pay for the rest of my career is far less than the pay bump I got my first year in the union.
Not to mention the benefits and never having to ask my boss for a raise.
Does that middle of the night explanation make sense?

Oh, totally. I see the utility of a union and the perks it can have, but my cynicism would have to be satisfied before I'd agree to it. The dues aren't the issue or the cost that concerns me, and there are some companies that are shitty enough that a union makes sense.

I'd hate to sign into one like my buddy has, because they have no teeth. They barely get anything for the workers and aren't willing to fight/strike when the company gets shitty. The company is crap and they need a union, but the one they have is impotent.

Flipside of that is unions like the one that the people who worked at Hostess had. The company was in rough financial shape, conveyed this to the employees and the union when the union was making new demands, and the employees understood and sided with the company. They didn't want to pursue the union's push, but under the contract they couldn't force the union to accept the companies counterproposal. The union refused to give any ground and bankrupted the company. Everyone lost their job. Now, I don't know how many got their jobs back months later when somebody had bought up the rights and such, but it was a shit thing for the union to do. 99% sure the new company isn't willing to work with a union after that as well.

My current employer made it known in the past that if the employees ever unionized they'd just sell it. They aren't willing to play ball.

That's crazy, the only union experience I have is where I'm at. It's a public power company with zero risk of going under, it's a cash cow supported by electric rate payers. We have a strong union too so that helps.

My buddy in the toothless union works for a natural gas company and though there will always be gas, the ownership of the infrastructure has changed hands more than once. Each time it does, all the union deals get tossed.

Sounds like you're in a better position than many union workers, and like your union isn't doing the same crap that the auto industry unions did.
