Welcome and greetings from Minnesota. Congrats on your impending retirement. I can say from personal experience that retirement is highly recommended! It took me a few years after I retired, but this is my retirement Tundra:

Dealer told me today 8-9 months. Can that be correct?

Depends on which model you “ordered”. The higher the trim level, the lower the numbers produced and it seems the longer the wait. If you specked out a hybrid (or whatever the proper term is) don’t hold your breath. And pray your vehicle is not involved in a safety recall - stop sale. My 21 was held up at the receiving yard for almost 5 months due to the power steering recall. I didn’t take delivery of my 21 SR5 until March 2022. It was ordered early October 2021, hit the receiving yard late October and was immediately put on a stop sale. When it was all said an done, it was worth the wait. Good luck.

You can always get a low mileage 2.5 gen Tundra for your retirement like I did.

That is an option. I am a buy and hold sort of guy and figure if I take care of the truck it should be good for 200,000 miles, which for me is at least 10 years. I've worked long and hard to be able to retire so I figure I will just order what I want and write the check. It only hurts once right?

Yes I was looking at the Hybrid. I will check on just the standard twin turbo. I am going to have to figure out something. My other thought was Honda Ridgeline. Different animal I know but in reality is enough vehicle for what I will be doing with it. But when I think about Ridgeline vs. Tundra the Tundra wins hands down every time, no contest.

Another reason to consider a slightly used 2021 besides what ^^^ he said ^^^ is that there are so many electronic gadgets on the 2022 that a normal “old guy” will never use or understand all of the high tech features. Why pay for what you may never use. The 21 was considered low tech compared to the 22 my dealer tried to “encourage” me to buy while I was waiting, but I don’t make use of or understand half of what was included with my SR5. My old Corvette has window cranks and “2 - 50 air” (two windows down, 50 mph & you got air) new tech is nice but not absolutely needed.
