Welcome to the forum. Lots of great info on here.

Is your spare tire in there nice and snug?

    Can you be more specific?

welcome! "chatter" is open to interpretation. 2nd gen rear issues of which I'm aware

    - Vibration when starting from a stop
often caused by a lift without a carrier bearing drop.
    - Squeak over bumps
leaf springs rubbing together (fixed with silicon spray)
    - rattling noise with engine running
    loose exhaust shield
    - Thump when slowing to a stop
    slack in drive line (U-joints)

It's def the rear end. I changed the fluid and it had a matalic haze to it. Also a lot of metal flakes on the magnet. I also jacked the rear end up and put the truck in drive.
While the truck was coasting (wheels off the ground) there would be a chatter coming from the rear end. I did notice quite a bit of play in the drive train to the rear end.

U-joints apear to be good. They were just greased 2 months ago when I did an oil change. There def is slack in the drive line. Taking it to a mechanic today.

Thanks for the welcomes, everyone. The "chatter" I mentioned is a feel, not a noise. Once it starts, the truck shudders as I drive. It's not subtle, you can definitely feel it.
