Hello again everyone, i received so much help with my last post i thought id try again. So my search for a decent Tundra in the phoenix area is rough. I've narrowed it down to these two. As advised by other members on this forum , i went ahead and already requested pictures of the frame. As always , anyone's help or advice would be greatly appreciated , thanks again , and have a great day gentlemen.

I have owned both, an 05 and 10.
The 05 was extremely comfortable and very car like ride.
The 10 is a truck. The power just isn’t there with the weight of the 05 and the engine that is in it.

The 05 is most likely due it's 2nd timing belt replacement. $1000ish maintenance item, every 80k or 90k miles. Need to verify if work is needed or not. Most likely needed and why it was sold or traded in
The 2010 has the smaller V8. Many claim a perfectly capable engine but no 5.7L.

Frames look fine on both, the 1st gen better than the 2nd gen.

The 2010 looks pretty much basic to me. But has the cab space and 4WD, 2 of your stated requirements IIRC. Steel wheels. Lots of money to put into customizing.

The 2005 is also pretty much basic, doesn't have the double cab or 4WD you said you needed, which were 2 of your requirements. No steering wheel controls, base stereo. Again, lots of money to put into customizing.

I think you should hang tight, check back in a week. It took me months to find just the right 1st gen, myself.

I saw a fair amount of inventory change every 10-14 days. Patience is key. I gave you links to searches before for CarGuru, TrueCar, Cars.com - you can setup alerts for specific searches on there. After a couple weeks of getting tired of checking constantly, I just setup alerts and reviewed those every day to make sure I didn't miss anything. Was a lot less stress. The deeper you dig, the more desperate you're gonna get.

PS - glad you tagged me, otherwise I would've missed this. I really only check the 1st gen forum.

Hope I don't come across as too much of a dick, but before doing any more truck shopping, you need to decide what kind of a truck you want. The 1st and 2nd Gen trucks are very different.

Really just something reliable. I'd like 4doors and 4x4 to accommodate family and work , but my deadline is closing in, at this point I just want a truck that isn't gonna break down on my every year or have to toss thousands in repairs at it .

I don't mind the basic look for either truck . Probably won't customize for a while, as right now , my biggest priority is saving some money , as I have to move my mom to AZ from Cali. Don't care much for how it looks at first ,just something that won't leave me stranded lol. I was hoping to find something by this weekend , as I could use what would've been this months payment to move her things here. Thanks again everyone !

I have had both 1st Gen Tundra 4.7l and 2nd Gen 5.7l. The 2nd Gen is a bigger truck in every way and a lot more powerful in terms of engine towing and such. Having both I pefer the 2nd Gen now.

BTW if you are in Pheonix the 2nd Gen's HVAC air vent flaps is nitorious to getting stuck. Make sure both your AC and Heater HVAC system flaps works on the 2nd Gen before you buy. The HVAC position know put it to all the levels, Face, Face/Legs, Defogger and make your HVAC flaps move to the correct position.

The front of the driveshaft looks wet on the 05. I have an 05 and 19. The 05 is a smaller truck that I like for offroading, considering the width of some trails. If you need 4x4 the 05 shown isn't really an option. I had to do the water pump and timing belt like others have mentioned. There is also less aftermarket support for first gens. If you're into modding, that could be an issue.

Personally I would go with the 2nd gen tundra with 75k less miles and 5 years newer. $20k for a full size truck with near 100k miles is a pretty great deal and it will do everything that you need it to, and will be reliable if you are diligent about maintenance.

Having had a 2001 and 2010, I would take the 2nd Gen EVERY time. Better truck in basically every way.

Between those two specific trucks, I would take the 2010 and the extra $10K is well worth it. 2010 has 80K less miles, 4.6 is superior to 4.7, more room, more capacity, and better interior. That 2010 is barely broke in, and you can build it up however you want with TONS of options of aftermarket and take off parts.

I had put the 2010 VIN into the Toyota owners website , and it says that it was taken in for "shutting off while driving " or something of the like. Could that be why they traded it in? Anyone ever heard of this ?

Also , thanks everyone for your input.
