…and a new electric truck is going to be the second most expensive purchase some people make (after a home) with a repayment plan approaching mortgage lengths.

My lightning is $1160. I financed everything but tax and fees for 1.49 at 72. Will be carrying the loan for 1 month.

I won’t lie..I have had short weak moments when passed by a TRX…some of the owners purposely linger by with a slow roll, etc.

Even had a co-worker approached me with a “What can I do to get you out of the Tundra and into a RAM?”

    I had my 2015 SR5 at the time…I said “nothing :)

Rams looks good, are comfortable, and have some cool features. But don't ever get one if you plan to keep it more than a year.
Mine I ran for work ate wheel bearings for lunch and camshafts with a side of lifters for dinner. 4wd rarely worked and 3 shops failed to figure out the issue. It also constantly alerted for a turn signal and brake light out even though neither were. Even tried new bulbs to get the error to go away and it didn't.

I dont expect to see that much of an increase in MSRP...as for dealer markup, its all supply and demand. Nobody offers us a tip when we sell them at invoice and dont make any money on them. The price increase now is based on supply and demand and resell. We were one of the latest dealers in my market to increase from MSRP on anything. The problem is when you have a new one on the lot and a pre-owned one that is 1 - 2 years old and you own the used one for more than you retail the new one for. People can buy a new car right now, even at over sticker, and sell them used for a profit. Several used car dealers buy new vehicles from me at over sticker and do it every month.

I don’t know about the nickel batteries but the EV’s using lithium went up because of cost.

I know hybrid batteries are smaller but I would suspect those would have the biggest cost jump

I just had someone come in this morning wanting to sell a 2022 4Runner TRD Pro with 4K miles. I offered them MSRP ($55K) back for it and they wanted $5000 more. I ran the VIN through manheim auction report and the last 4 sold at auction all brought from $59K to $60500. Dealers are paying that for them at auction then paying to transport them back home then marking them up to retail them....That is why new ones are marked up right now. New car market is crazy...Used car market is ridiculous

All y'all mentioning Rams on discount.....

I heard about this mythical creature a few months ago, so I looked into it (for reference I live in the Seattle area)

What's on the dealership lots? Almost all are "Classic" older version. I did see a few with rebates, most of the rebates didn't apply to me such as military and LE.....

The new Ram versions ARE marked up. AND, due to materials shortages throughout the industry, Ram has been decontenting their trucks, certain features that were part of packages have been deleted.
I didn't see one new version Ram, on any dealership lot, with the LED headlights. So, you'd be paying a markup on a truck that has had many modern features deleted. And then there's the issue of owning a Ram.....

Not down here in Oregon. I didn’t even check Classic prices. Just the new 1500. $6-8k off advertised and plenty of actual pictures of them on their lot. Lots of ding dongs in Seattle so not surprised they are selling them for more up there.

This is what happens when ratings come out showing Ram 2nd to last in dependability barely eeking out Land Rover

2/22 build. No issues. It’s not just the latest builds that are doing good. 6500miles.

I think waiting will improve your odds of getting a trouble free truck, but I think the statistical probability is a very small improvement. Even multi year old models have issues so the room for improvement is not between current and 100% chance of problem free pickup, because that’s unattainable. The difference is between current average and future average. Which could be less than a couple of percent difference.

You have to weight your risk tolerance for the current problem average % against the guaranteed 100% probability of future price increases.

Sometimes you have to take those ratings with a grain of salt but I don't think that is the case with Ram. I mentioned on FB that LG appliances are not dependable and some dude shot back that Consumers Reports ranks them the best. I did not want to start shit with him but the people that service them rank them as some of the worst.

That may be the case but Dodge/Chrystler has had a long standing reputation for being junk and I'm not talking from the ratings houses. Im talking real world ratings from owners and mechanics that I've known from 30+ years in the automotive industry. I've known several people who have owned Rams and they have all been problem vehicles. They do make a great engine but the rest of the Ram is a turd. If they had the reputation Toyota has I'd be driving a Ram TRX right now which honestly I think is hands down a better looking truck than the Tundra with a beautiful and well appointed interior. I like my money too much i guess

    LG appliances are terrible.
When I go to the metal recycling at our local transfer station, there's always at least one set of fancy, newer LG washer and dryer in the metal recycling bin. The nice ones, painted in fancy color with touchscreen controls.

I do know a few people with Dodges/Rams. We also have Ram and Ford trucks in our fleet at work. I feel like the Fords are slightly worse than the Rams.

Agreed, our LG refrigerator sucks. Three service calls in 2 years on a new unit. I had a 2019 Ram for a year; I thought it had a ton of issues until I got a Toyota, now I realize that Ram was almost perfect LOL.
