2022 Tundra vs 2022 F-150 opinion?

I really do like the Sequoia, and would 100% compromise on some of the things I wish the Tundra / Sequoia had, if the damn thing had a real flat easily accessible rear storage area for my dogs.

With the shelf having to be raised to be level with the 3rd row seats that don’t fold down flush, it will be too high for my dogs to jump in without scratching the hell out of the back. And then the platform it makes leaves a huge gap between it and the second row.

Beyond puzzling and frustrating to me as having a traditional lower level flush rear cargo area would fix the lack of flat rear seat area issue I have with the Tundra.

Oh shit- $2500 applies to an AT4X. This could be dangerous.

 

I think the '24 or '25 Lightning will have a dedicated platform. And a more unique/ EV styling.

 

This is why the sequioa is a no go for me. The 3rd row and cargo is just a mess.

 

Yeah, I live in Utah at 6500'. We have a few hills too. 50% of the miles I put on my Ecoboost are towing a travel trailer and I have probably abused mine more than 99% of the owners out there. Many of those miles were with aftermarket tunes pushing >500 ft-lbs of torque at 2000 rpm. I've warped exhaust manifolds twice pulling into 30 mph headwinds while climbing those grades. The turbos are solid still though.

 

New Sequoia looks great and seems like it will appeal to 4Runner owners, especially those with growing families. But for me, it lost too many cool and ultra usable features of the previous gen.

 

Yeah, all of the Toyota "Pro" vehicles seems like a bit of a ripoff to me. They are charging quite a bit of money for some just ok upgrades.

I kept in touch with someone who bought one 5 months ago at a markup. I just talked to them. He said it ain't worth it at a even a $2500 discount. Met him on the 22 tundra page and he's about to trade it in for a pro,

 

ya, Im not impressed for that kinda coin, no way. The half ass auto drive thing does nothing for me, call me when I can sleep while it drives, otherwise leave that shit out as its more to go wrong.

We can hit 100k miles in 3 years. The longevity from these new generation drivetrains worries me. I don't even know how to evaluate them buying used. So complex chasing CAFE and emission regs. My mechanic pals wouldn't know either since they won't see one until they're out of warranty.

 

It does not, am sure it's due to the battery being under the seats.

I have a 2021 Sierra 1500 3.0L Duramax. Purchased December 2020 brand new. Currently have a little over 46k miles. Not a single issue and I tow a pressure washing rig with it 3-4x a week weighing between 5000-7000lbs depending how much water I have in the tank. On the freeway, it does better than most cars. In these pictures, I ended up going 620 miles before filling up at 30mpg. This was hand calculated as well. The info screen is pretty accurate.

Yup.

My local dealer had a 2016 Sequoia with 60k miles on it for $89k 2 months ago.

I couldn't even imagine paying $102k for something that had the full time 4WD deleted, and also finding out your large breed dog no longer fits in the back due to the high floor of the new hybrid-only Sequoia.

You can expect these steep mark-ups to continue on the Sequoia, being a hybrid means Toyota can make even fewer of these than non-hybrid Tundras due to the scarcity of materials lately.

Good job, Toyota. Thanks for making the Sequoia hybrid only during a worldwide pandemic. Genius move.

Eventually the dumb asses will get crushed by this recession because they did not save any money and live way beyond their means.

This will make me laugh, and I will mock their financial pain and suffering. Prior to the pandemic I might have had sympathy for them, then they collectively showed their asses and started hoarding toilet paper. I knew at that moment that sympathy was not appropriate. That is when I knew that a lot of them needed to die, so as to stop contaminating society with their inferior genes. The productive and responsible elements of society have to stop these oxygen thieves at all cost.

 

The '23 2nd row also is tumble forward. So it loses cargo LENGTH as well as cargo height (because of SRA and the hybrid battery intruding into the cargo area). Hence 87 cubic ft max vs 120 cubic ft max in the 2G.

There are a bunch of Ford fanboys on the Texas Fishing Forum. They take it real personal when you write anything bad about Fords. I just tell them when you criticize my Tundra for something other the fuel mileage then come back.

Tundra vs. F-150

I have found that there are no king cab (I think Ford calls them Supercab ... I'm going to call them all king cab) F-150 available in my area. It appears we are only getting 4 door F-150 in XLT mid and above. I reckon it's because of limited availability, Ford is focusing on higher trims that are more profitable.

I have seen manufacturers move away from king cab trucks, or at least severely limit choices in that config.

Nissan killed Pro4x Titan king cab, any Frontier version with a longer bed, either king cab regular bed or 4 door long bed can't be optioned in higher trim or Pro4x.

GM's new Colorado is ONLY available in short bed 4 door. And I see a lot of new Colorado's in my area in king cab.

Only Toyota has been shipping nicely optioned king cab Tundras, it's not uncommon to find one on a lot in my area with the TRD off road and upgraded 14" infotainment.

We're growing out of the need for a 4 door and would like the longer bed instead of the bigger cab, and right now Toyota is the only manufacturer shipping that configuration to dealers.

 

While the SRA hurts, the rear cargo area in the Sequoia seems worse than my Lexus GX. My 3rd row folds flat and the second row folds flat with the 3rd row and slides. And thats in a vehicle with a 11” shorter wheelbase.

Its gotta be all about the battery.
