Central Coast...Shandon specifically. I have had 2 contractors come bid jobs and neither one has gotten back to us. Super crazy, I guess they don't need the work. The only difference is my wife wants glass also.

Our glass gets contracted out to glass professionals. All of these showers got glass after I left. If those contractors are like us, then they’re busy as hell, doesn’t excuse them not calling, though. Pretty shitty.

Last year I fully gutted (right to the floor joists) the downstairs bathroom, and did a very similar quarter wall walk in shower.

That was a ton of work. Brother in law helped me relocate the plumbing, and we sub'd out the glass door and half wall. The rest was my handy work. There's a cubby on the backside of the quarter wall, and not in the picture is a small closet with custom built pocket doors.

The only thing I haven't finished is the marble floating bench. Finding someone local to weld stainless has been daunting

    Flux capacitor!
When you go select granite and quartz they rate the level of the slabs by levels 1-7 typically. One be the entry level and 7 being the highest level. Different yards that carry the slabs can sometimes rate the slabs higher or lower pending the yards rating. It’s like shopping for a diamond, you need to make sure your getting a good deal on the materials and labor first. Lol

Interesting. Were you able to pick the slab out yourself?
I'd be curious to see what a lvl 1 vs 5 slab looks like especially when it comes to quartz.

Our house came with granite, but i'm really over granite....wanted the clean look of quartz. Maybe someday i'll accidentally drop a hammer on the countertop so we have to swap it out.

Yes, my wife and I went to go select our slabs and put a deposit to secure them. My fabricator pushed me ahead of the typical 6-8 week wait since I paid for them in full ahead of time. I don’t recommend paying in full unless you know the company and have a relationship with them. In our case it was a great deal and they did measurements, fabrication and install within a week and half.

I would suggest you get your style of slabs secured before you “dropped a hammer”. Haha

The cabinets are all solid wood, I wouldn’t mind keeping and refinishing them maybe, if they are salvageable after removing the washboard countertops

This job is very fascinating with the floating walls. Totally unheard of in my part of country.
What mud is in the red box? The blue looks like Plus 3.

Miss hot mops, but mostly because someone else did it. Redgard got delegated to me. Have you used Wedi?, had good results with it, fast, but expensive.

I haven’t tried Wedi. The issue I have with redgard is the amount of coats. But with the wet mop subbed out we would lose half a day. If I can find something faster, my contractor would go for it.

Oh yeah, IAPMO rated, reasonably priced, easier to apply, the whole 9.

    Where do you shop at?

You could try the poly-fleece sheets like Schluter Kerdi and MAPEI WP200. They apply fast and you can tile over them immediately.
