I leveled my truck with a 2” kit but now im confused about tires. The person Im buying it from says I might need metal and plastic trimming if I get the 35’s and wont need to do anything with the 34’s. How accurate is this? I have 17” inch. Please help.

I have a Platinum with no lift and Toyo A/T IIIs 35/11.5/R20....if you get 35/12.5/R20 I believe it would rub without a lift. Though with that 2" leveling kit, that might not be an issue, hopefully someone else on here can answer that.

Metric 34/35s will fit better than 35x1250. Look for something with the same measurements as a 295/70-18 or 285/75-18 (in 17inch since that is what rim you have) and you will be golden. This is a helpful tool to compare tire sizes

Yes the place im doing all this ordered some 285/75-17 ko2. The only reason im asking around is because i see people have put in 35 with only leveling kits. But they only mention there is light rubbing in videos. But you cant always trust youtube videos. So i was wanting a second opinion

people have fit 35x1250s with 2-2.5 lifts, levels. There are some pics and info to 2022 trucks running them in the 3rd gen forums and threads

Then dont do tires that wide, stick with something 11-11.5 inches wide and they are much easier to fit

Tires are like TV’s. Always get the biggest you can fit.

Depends on your wheel offset. If you're running a negative offset I can see why your shop wouldn't recommend 35s.

It'll fit. 0 offset may rub with larger 35s like Nittos. 315 are slightly smaller than 35s. Also they're ko2s which run small. It'll clear especially with your 2" lift. No trimming required.

i have about 2.5" of lift and have 275/65/20's which are 34.1x10.8 and they rubbed pretty hard when i first had them installed. pulled the liners in front of the wheel forward, removed the front flaps and then reinstalled them trimmed up.
These are my 3rd set of tires for the Tundra and have to say they are the perfect sized tire for the vehicle aesthetically.

Safe to assume the 275/65/20's wouldn't fit with stock suspension then right? Even with the same adjustments you made?

I do have a small level (just a bit more than a pro would have) and the tires "fit" decently but scrubbed when in reverse and on uneven ground would rub when i was turning going forward.
Being i've adjusted the flaps and liners and have added wheels with more backspacing since i'd say in my case they would not have worked at stock height with stock wheels.

    Go 295/70 ( 34’s ). 275’s ( 33’s ) will look too small on a leveled truck.

Rubbing will depend on your wheel offset. If your rubbing your going to have to either push the front fender liner fwd or shim the front bumper 1/2 inch using coach builder shims.

You can also get some aftermarket mud flaps like Rokblokz if your rubbing on your stock flaps.

3/1 lift, 18x9 wheels +25 offset, 295/70/18 Falken Wildpeaks. 1/2 inch coach builder bumper shims, Rokblokz flaps. No rubbing.

So a 275 in a 20" wheel isn't the same of a 275 in an 18" wheel. The size you suggested 295/70/18 is actually only 1/5th of an inch larger than a 275/65/20 in height and the width is where the main difference is. Its a measure of aspect not a direct measurement.

Thanks. I do plan to do a modest lift but it probably wont be for a few more years. I'm going to go with 275/60/20 and at least get a slightly taller tire than stock.

that's kind of how i approached it too, one thing leads to the next and moving up slowly keeps your truck a fun little ongoing project.
