Somethin else I haven’t seen mentioned in this immediate convo is the zip tie trick. Put a zip tie on your shock shaft, then go drive around and hit some bumps. The shock body will push the zip tie towards the end of the shaft. Ideally, try to make contact with your bump stops (you can put some type of marking compound or whatever to make sure you were successful in making contact) the zip tie will tell you how much shock you have left beyond the bumps, and what size spacer you could get away with

    @Jack McCarthy

cracked spindle ring aside, would a taller ubj get you anything or be help in the wrong direction?

or do the spc arms compensate for that?

Wait, does @Jack McCarthy have SPC arms on his truck?

If so, @Jack McCarthy are you sure you clocked the BJ correctly on install? To steal from @des2mtn's previous post, the instruction sheet has directions on where to clock the UBJ in order to get +/- caster. If you didn't clock this correctly, I'm guessing it would probably make it quite a bit more difficult to get camber right.

No, i dont think he does. I have bmf's old coilovers, but i'd imagine shipping would be silly.

i was pontificating whether a spc ubj 'spacer' would get him where he needs to be, even though solo lca's are the only 'real' fix.

@Mr.bee , @shifty` My UCAs and spindle are stock. I haven’t considered replacing them since my need is to just bring my truck back into alignment spec. Last check, max positive camber was -0.5 (which is negative) and I’m sure it’s worse now.

The last few days have been house cleaning and preparing for house tenting to happen while we take the boy to school. We leave tomorrow early and return Sunday. I'll send some updates from Hawaii. Be safe all.

I’m case you need a good laugh

so I take today off from work, so I can take the little dudes (2 year old, and 9 month old) to a soaki mtn water park in sevierville ,Tn. We made a stop at chick fila before getting on the interstate. My wife’s gets my 2 year old out to go use the bathroom since he’s potty training. He’s gotta a habit lately of wanting to put things in his pocket like keys, pocket knife, etc. so my wife gives him the key to the Jetta and off too the bathroom they go. I’m standing waiting for our food with my 9 month old. They come out of the bathroom and my 2 yr old comes running across the restaurant And goes “daddy, I flushed key to Jetta down toilet, we gotta get another key” .Luckily we had a spare at home and somebody to bring it to us.

Reminds me of the time I took care of my nephew when he was 3 and his mother and father were out having their anniversary dinner.

He insisted on pouring his own milk from the 1/2 gallon container. He didn't have an issue until I turned my back on him when he was done to get the paper at the door.

He apparently followed me to the stairs, milk container in hand and dumped the rest of the container down the stairs on the new carpet covering it.

My sister had to replace the carpet and told me "That's the last time I have a 5 year old take care of my 3 year old!"

Kids...what do I know? Apparently, not much. :notsure:

I mean, at age 2 or 3 this is to be expected. FWIW, we got our kids their own sets of keys from older cars to carry around with them after equally stupid shit happened. Screw me once ...

@Cummins3500 just wait until they're old enough to know better but they do it anyway. Shit starts to get real fun the closer they get to two-digit ages. My mettle is ironclad at this point.

@Jack McCarthy kids man, what you do lol

@shifty` He’s a mess already if it’s got a motor, he’s all about it . Like he knows that you’ve gotta turn the key to start the truck. Luckily the Jetta and Cummins are both manuals and he can’t reach the clutch. The tundra and sequoia though he can’t reach the door handles yet but we’ll eventually have to start putting those keys up

Keep an eye on that one ;)

Both of my kids grew up around equipment and my "Large Cars" and know how to make "things move" :eek:o_O

Our youngest fell in love with his Mom's Camry XLE and one night "borrowed the keys", crawled out his bedroom window, pushed the car out of the driveway and proceeded to TOTAL it :annoyed: He stuck it between two oak trees hard enough to deploy all air bags and pop sunroof out ... At 14 he was "Smart enough" to find a phone and call both Fire and police , they in turn called me.... Fire Chief , a long time family friend, got a laugh out of it saying my son was less afraid of Law Enforcement that his Dad :monocle:

Kids , gotta love 'em and wait till they have their own... My Grand babies are my sweetest "Revenge":rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Yup. Probably true for a lot of us around here. I was driving tractors on my grandpa's property and using arc welders to fix said equipment while still in my single-digits.

But he and my dad put the fear of murder in me back then if I ever drove anything without asking an adult first. Same was true for our 3- and 4-wheelers in my teenage years, they never trusted me, and it's probably better that way. :D

The ONLY thing that kept me from giving a "Life lesson" ( besides his mother :rolleyes:o_O ) was the insurance company :censored::eek2: , If I pressed charges he would be on the "hook" for damages , leave it at a "Family oops" and car and injuries were fully covered...

As I said, he now has 3 of his own and I enjoy those "oops moments" a little more :hattip:

Tip: Don't hit HattieB's or Prince's for lunch before a night out unless you know how it's gonna hit you. I've got iron gut and high heat tolerance, so it never bothers me, but others I know ... they got-got.

That giant knife store you're talking about now sells guns too. Quite an impressive selection of both.
