Packages shipped today with 3 plates. That was a nice email to receive this morning - thank you, Tyler!

Just need to get them on the truck to deter the degenerates...

Please take good notes for me regarding the install. I'm gonna need them when I install mine. It's a good thing that you're detail oriented.

    I'd like to think I'm detail-oriented.
I just put together a new office desk, furniture in a box (well 4 boxes), I had to take apart 2 different pieces because I put them in wrong..:(

    But it's all done now..

Hey Tyler, mind if I get an update on order # R171192497.

It's just the TRD PRO Skid Plate nut plate. Just want to have it on hand if I need to take the plates down and not to deal with the PITA install again.

For some reason your site doesn't have any of my order history so that's why I'm reaching out here.

    Thanks!

    Vincent

This isn't an official how to install the 2WD vert plate, this is just a short rundown of how I did it.
The pics and instructions aren't perfect, it was already 100° outside and I had to do this in the driveway.
Sorry I didn't take more pics during installation.

@Classy63 let me know if I need to change anything for a proper install.

I did this on my tailgate using scrap 2X4s under the plate to drill the holes.

I dropped the rear plate, the blue Loctite came apart easily with my Dewalt impact driver..
Tyler said to position the plate even with the logo cut out.
I tried extending it out a bit, but you can see in my marks the bolts were getting too close to the edge of the rear plate.

    tpr81jb9_29ec589d4dd258c3ad07d1ac5c21428df4191395.jpg

I positioned the v-plate about 1/8" below the logo.
I centered it about 1 3/4" from the holes on the rear plate on each side.

    29gyiu3i_7a7f403c6fe2c75e3283826f1137b987af7852f1.jpg

Marked the holes with a silver Sharpie.

    wyhs0y9g_572c5cbd39fd86502c2f80537b4fa483883731dd.jpg

I used a 3/8 drill bit to drill the first hole.
For the others, I drilled a smaller pilot hole, and that seemed to make the 3/8 bit go thru easier.

    hh68go50_59266f6d5f804af3ebcc6d7e66db66add9f16cda.jpg

I stuck all the bolts in on a piece of cardboard and slowly lifted the plate and cardboard using the cardboard to hold the bolts in place.
Set it up on edge and installed the washers and nuts using a 3/16 Allen head socket on my impact driver and a 1/2 combination wrench.

I then reinstalled the rear plate.
Although I'm sure the v-plate is functional and does prevent access, I think it provides more of a visual deterrent, much like the shields as a whole.
I feel a thief would be more likely to move on to an easier target.
As well if they did try cutting the pipes, it would take too much time to work the exhaust pipe and 2 cats over and past the shields.

When I was done I had the engine idling for a while while I changed my interior bulbs out.
I noticed a puddle under the truck that I'd never seen and thought it was a fuel leak.:eek2:
Turns out it was A/C condensation dripping off the back of the shields..

    Too many, but not enough....
Tyler would the additional plate in the back for 2WD trucks also fit on 4x4s?

Peace of mind showed up today! I have a feeling the install won't be as joyful as receiving the packages.

To everyone else who has orders in: I placed the order on 5/25, packages arrived on 8/18.

Thanks, Tyler - looks like a solid plate set!

Did you get the nut plate?
It makes the skid and front cat sheild installation easier..

There is no need for the nut plate with Tyler's engine skid plate design. His multiplate engine skid allows for nut access. The nut plate is helpful for RCI and TRD skids

Then why would Tyler include one in the @aelarson package?

Access or not, the nut plate would make it easier..
Why wrench a nut when you don't have to?

I have 2 WD and really didn't have to have the nut plate, but it sure was easier not to have a put a wrench on those top nuts of the skid plate.
    YMMV...............

I ordered all 3 plates, no other accessories. Front Skid, front cat plate and rear cat plate. I believe I have a nut plate, but I might be mistaking that for another piece. You can see all of the plates and little accessory plates in the upper right corner stacked on the rear cat plate in my original picture.

I do not see a nut plate in the picture. It is only about 1 inch wide. You may be referring to the multi-plate engine skid pieces in the upper right of the picture. This is what makes the install easy compared to the RCI or TRD engine skids.

I have a somewhat outdated install write up of the full plate set that you have here:
    https://www.tundras.com/threads/3rdtundras-2017-double-cab-build.92631/#post-2338309
I believe there are no longer spaces used and some bolt sizes have changed, but there is a picture showing the layout of the parts
