Ok so I’m taking my truck in for the 55k mile service this Friday and my big problem is that I requested a new door lock actuator on now the 3rd door (back passenger). Both front doors have already been replaced and was just wondering if anyone else has had this same issue . Issue is door doesn’t unlock with the keyless entry

Seems this is common on so many modern Toyota/Lexus products. I've done 1 in my 08 es350 and two in my sister's 14 Camry. You have the newest/low mile one I've heard of so far.

If they could just make that motor easier to replace it would cut the cost by a large margin. Have to replace the whole thing as a unit.

I had all 4 go in my 2014 (DC). Got an estimate from the dealership at about $2200-2500 to replace. Obviously didn’t and just rolled with an unlocked truck all the time. I could lock manually but only did it if I needed to.
When I traded it in for my 2019, one of the service guys asked me what they quoted me to change the locks and I told him. He was like “yeah man that was a doozy, cost us about $1600” since they got it ready to sell.

Kind of alarming it happened on such anew vehicle. I think it’s a crapshoot on the QA for those things. Some folks never have an issue and others are in your shoes. Good luck

Welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)! I haven't had an issue myself, but I have read about several others with it. Seems fairly common.

You can buy replacement motors on Amazon for a few bucks each, clean the existing motors if you have experience with that sorta thing, or just buy new actuators. If you're gonna get new actuators, I wouldn't worry about getting OEM since they're expensive and prone to failure, it's one of the very few parts I'd recommend being cheap with.

On my 2014 Tundra I replaced the driver's door actuator at 42k miles. Fairly easy to do and the part was around $50. Then about 10k miles later the back door on the same side went out. It was much easier to replace since their is no key lock to line up. I didn't bother with OEM parts on either, just bought off Amazon. So far, no problems at 75k miles.

My buddy has a Corolla that eats actuators. He has replaced 5 in 4 years. My ‘16 Tundra is still on the originals.

Welcome and greetings from Minnesota. Nice looking truck. If you have any kind of extended warranty, Toyota should cover it. Good luck.

No extended warranty so toyota decided not to cover it . Tried to tell me it was $700+ to replace it, so I decided to do it myself. Will be ordering the part soon. Thanks for everyone’s advice . I’m located in so cal by the way not sure if my profile says it.
