Time to invest in a SS catback system. Last time I checked it was $1200 in my area. Probably around $1500 nowadays.

I’ve never experienced drone before, until I did exhaust on my truck; I thought something was falling off or dragging from the truck, it sounded even weirder going thru underpasses.

Does anyone have JUST a spintec 6000 to replace their stock muffler clip? Been going back & forth on this for a while... I'm 90% ready to pull the trigger on a Spintec 6000, 2 1/2? stainless center in & out.
I would just love to hear the sound of stock exhaust with this muffler...

i went the opposite direction and made my truck super quiet with a 70 series flowmaster and stock everything else when i found a 2" hole in the top of my stock muffler. its been great. Im the type that enjoys a drive with no radio or music and just listening to the engine do its thing. wont post a clip tho, probably cant hear it.

I looked up my Spintech order and here's what I ended up with.

Inlet Size: 2.25 inch, Inlet Location: Offset, Outlet Size: 2.25 inch, Outlet Location: Dual, Material: Stainless Steel

Stock exhaust piping going into it and stock coming out with a secondary pipe added which exits to the driver's side. My exhaust installer had no trouble making the 2.25" diameter pipe match with the factory piping.

All I did was the muffler. I left the resonator in place.

As for the size, I ordered 2.5"

That's a lot milder than I expected. Resonator still intact upstream, I take it?

Looking at this thread reminds me how much I hate the drone with my Flowmaster 40 series lol. Not sure what I should replace it with, I don't have the resonator anymore so whatever it will be will have to have way less drone.

I just bought a used 03 with a flow master 40 series and dual exit after the muffler. At first I thought it sounded great, but now the highway drone is deafening haha. I am hoping to get mine replaced with something more tame in the next couple weeks. I like the Spintech sound but am worried it still might be too loud

That is pretty much how my setup is, deleted the resonator, then goes into one 40 series muffler, goes out into 2 pipes that both exit straight underneath the tailgate. It sounds great when you're on the throttle, but doing any highway speeds is annoying. Can barely have conversations when cruising lol. Idk what I plan on doing, really just looking for the cheapest option that will get rid

    Hey all!

Just finished getting my fab guy to install the jones 2525XL muffler replacement. Its as easy as cut out the old, weld in the new, and weld in new exhaust hangers. Took him an hour.

I cant recommend this muffler mod enough. Its as simple and easy as it gets, very affordable too. I had done this previously on my 2010 taco and loved it. No drone, throaty and still respectable. They also sell a non-resonated version ( aero turbine 2525) but I didnt want to go that far, so I stuck with the XL which is resonated.

    here is the link:

    Anyways, here's a vid I made , I recommend a watch!

If you like it, that's what matters. There is, however, a reason why the OEM has the exhaust exiting the side or rear of the vehicle. Carbon monoxide is a killer. While it may not affect you while in forward motion, I would not want to sit in the cab of your truck while idling for an extended period of time. I would suggest routing the exhaust to exit out the side or rear for your own safety.

I work out of my tundy. When I cut the exhaust I noted that I had a slit between the cab and bed AND that there are no wires or hoses that are close enough to get melted. As of now, zero exhaust fumes and nothing has melted. I’m in her right now, idling as I respond. Lol if anything I would like to add a small pie cut to the end to give it a little more downward angle.

Just looking out for you, bud. I'd hate for someone to find you unresponsive in your truck while trying to respond.

i have to admit, i’ve never been able to smell carbon monoxide...which is also accurate for 100% of the population out in the world. Do realize that you terminated your exhaust tip to right below the truck’s rear cab vents.

The first sign of CO poisoning is making one think that a clapped out exhaust sounds good. The second sign of CO poisoning is denial. You can give up on trying to get a reservation at Dorsia from now on.
