Hello. I am a newby who is trying to find additional keys for my 2004 Tundra. I have searched here and I tried through the dealer online. I do not find keys available. I searched key, keys, ignition key and so on with no luck. I found the fob's from Toyota for about $60. HELP!

Just bought it. If I really need a title that will be in about 2 months here in Texas if I am lucky. Thanks for the input!

Do you just need an extra key or do you not have one at all? I went to a local lock smith and they cut me a key for under $5.00 using my existing key. I didn't have to show a title.

You say need additional keys. That tells me you already have one. Just walk into any key shop with your key. They will cut you as many as you want for ~ 10--20 bucks each

Is there not some blessing that must be done to make the transponder happy?

I don't think 2004s had a chip in the key. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I am happy with no chips. I thought all vehicles since 1998 had them. I will post back here with my findings.

    Thanks for the help!

Does anyone know of a better source for key fobs? Toyota is about $53.

I don't have any suggestions on where to buy a fob, but here's a thread with a ton of info on programming them. Might be helpful for you later on https://www.tundras.com/threads/key-fob-replacement-2002-tundra.55779/

THANK YOU! The folks on this site have been SO HELPFUL! This is great.

I have 3 MR2's and the MR2 forums are so helpful as well! Toyota FTW!

Gotta say there is a lot of driving adjustment between any of my MR2's and my crewcab Tundra. My Bulldog loves the back seat of the Tundra!

    Thanks again!

A small and beautiful world indeed! Hello from Texas! I was hoping to find a Tundra in the manly Paradise Blue Metallic to match my Spyder but evidently Toyota did not offer this. I settled on a one owner white 2004 crewcab and I love it!

I have to admit that my other car with (almost) no room is an S2000 Honda with a bit over 400,000 miles on it.

You have a nice assortment of vehicles there!

Too Many. It’s an unhealthy addiction. Lol. I’ve got my little sw20 that I need to get the transmission together to run. Soon

The SW20 is my favorite of the MR2 generations. 3S-GTE FTW! Enjoy whichever version that you have. Finding a keeper these days is about like finding an honest politician.

ACE hardware had some blanks for my 2003 Tacoma. I would imagine they have blanks for a first generation tundra. The blanks were "access" brand, at least that is what is molded into the plastic.

93 factory turbo. But the engines long gone. Bought the car from Marc who sells all the parts for the v6 swap. She’s getting a 3.5l v6 with high compression pistons swapped in. Shooting for 320WHP n/a. Should be fun. Cars a diamond in the rough

That's where I got mine done.

Remote you should hunt for with an '04 should be same as my 06, you'll find plenty under this FCC ID number: BAB237131-056

For the key blank, bring current key to dealer and they should cut you one.

If you want to buy blanks, p/n is 90999-00185 [or] 9099900185 but BEWARE: Counterfeits are everywhere, and the ones from China are sometimes made of materials that will destroy a key cutting machine, so many places won't cut using your supplied blanks. My local Ace did it, but only because the blank I handed them was in genuine Toyota packaging, and I was able to show them the receipt from the online dealership I ordered from.

I got one key with my truck, and it was a copy (maybe even a copy of a copy for all I know). I made copies of it, and of course they worked even worse than the first one. I had to jiggle and wiggle, and wrestle the wheel every now and then before it would start. The key work on one door, but not the other. Eventually I went to the dealer with all my paperwork (they didn't even look at it) and asked for a new key "cut from the VIN". Cost ~ $25. Works like new :)
