Mine will never leave the road and my oakleys are blue. I will admit. I'm paying the 80k for the yellow drl and the widebody. Although I will prob take it to the dunes in OK.

Ive told my wife a couple times Id love for my next truck to be a TRX or Raptor but with their very low tow capacities I may have to pass on them. Every so often with work I carry heavy bed loads and tow my fathers dump trailer where I tend to load it very heavy. Last thing I need is him coming to trade trucks with to take his F350 because my load surpasses my tow capacity. So it looks like a Tremor or GMC 6.2 for me in the future

I've got a couple of boats (tritoon and a small CC) and plan to get a bigger center console in the next couple years. The 11,000 capacity of the Tremor gives me a lot of options, though I will not likely get close to that number. If you are regularly towing more than 8,000 a 3/4 ton will do the job so much better.

Stock is 275/70R18(33.2"). These are 285/75R18 (34.8"). Just put on yesterday so don't really have a good idea, I don't feel any difference in power. Other guys are reporting that a relatively lightweight 35 didnt' really ding the efficiency too bad compared to the stock tires as long as you keep your foot out of it. But the 10 speed/3.73 combo helps with that.

A raptor can not make it where I go. Its too wide. Unless the owner is ok with pinstriping the sides.
Its basically a one lane logging road through a winding forest.
My sons friend brought his older big engine Raptor in I know.
With my Tundra I need to be very very careful. Its really tight in spots.
Makes for really interesting times when you are towing something in or out and you encounter a "tourist" or someone renting a cabin.
Can't tell you how many times I have had to get out and move their vehicle to the side so I could pass.

My future son in law had a 2.7 Ford F150. It was his temporary truck while waiting for his Limited 3.5.
He was ok with coming in with it. no worries. An all black truck nice looking.
Now that he has this "Chrome Everywhere Limited 3.5" you can see he is not keen anymore on going offroad with it.
It costs like 1/3 more than his other truck and I think he is now worried about scratches on the black paint.
I could not live with a truck like that and honestly am appreciating my 2018 more and more everyday.
I can say that the Tundra black paint seems to have held up well to branches brushing against it.

That's what's going to limit you, rather than the 11k lb towing capacity. But that's pretty good payload for a halfton.

So in true Toyota fashon, haha, is that what the manual states or the true payload listed on the sticker?

Sticker. That's why I said it was fairly loaded. My Moonroof took away 100# of payload for instance.

Right, but tongue weight is going to be roughly 10% of trailer. So even if you maxed the trailer weight you still have 500# of payload. As long as your wife isn't too fat you can still take the family to the beach with an 11k boat/trailer.

After two weeks of owning a Capstone, coming from my 22 platinum F-150 and still own a '21 Raptor 37PP, Ford has refined their truck as far as "luxury" fit and finish is concerned. Their infotainment and controls are far superior to the Tundra. The Capstone is a nice entry to premium trucks by Toyota, but has a ways to go. The hybrid engine is a disappointment compared to the powerboost, but still decent. Ford's flat rear seat storage is light years ahead of Toyota's hybrid back seat as far as utilizing space. Not to mention Bluecruise on the Ford isn't perfect, but very nice. The safety controls with Toyota are unbelievably obnoxious. I enjoy both trucks, and they've come a long ways from 10 -15 years ago, but both have room to improve as I'm sure they will. TRD PRO for MSRP sounds like a decent deal compared to the $10,000-$25,000 ADM's for Raptors right now.

Nice comparison, you are certainly better equipped to speak to the pros and cons of each than most of us. Having to turn off the Tundra after a remote start seems like a huge annoyance too.

I've thought about ordering a Platinum BAP w/PB and doing that instead of the raptor and selling off the raptor when it arrives. Do you prefer the platinum or the raptor?

It's hard to believe the do that. Add that to the fact you buy a $76,000 Capstone and need a subscription to access my remote start and other features after a year of using the Toyota app. My fault for not understanding that at the time of purchase. Fordpass sucks, but it's free so I still think that's better, plus remote start with Rappy or Platinum by remote works way better on Ford.

Different purposes for me entirely. Where I live there's tons of BLM dirt roads that are high speed so Raptor is just unbelievable with new linked rear end compared to my 2020 Raptor. Raptor is comfortable enough on the highway, but too big for the cities with the 37's. Fortunately I live 3 hours from any major city. Leading me to where the platinum excels, on the highway it's every bit as comfortable if not more so than my Audi RSQ8. Around town I often make trips without ever running out of electric driving range so my fuel economy can be as high as 40mpg some weeks. The fit and finish of the platinum is better than the raptor (just because of production quantiles would be my guess). So for around town grocery getting and long range trips platinum is better (600+ mile fuel range), for hunting, playing, and overall enjoyment the Raptor is better. If I could only have one, it would be the Raptor just because of the versatility of how well mannered it is on-road, while still being exceptional off-road considering it is still a F-150 at the end of the day.

I forgot the Platinum is still leaf spring. Prob just stick with the Raptor although the new BAP's makes the Platinum look pretty beefy but still luxury.

The Raptor for the sensible dad?
This is my biggest, and almost singular, complaint with Toyota. But it looks like the new Tundras actually have more room between curb and GVWR than their door jambs say. A few forum members have discovered up to 250lb extra by going to the CAT scales in their stock trucks.

IMO there are plenty of reasons and uses to go into 4-Lo when off-roading and you don't have to be stuck or need to turn on a locker to take advantage of it. I put my truck into 4-Lo when I'm offroad all the time for vehicle sympathy. Doesn't matter if it's a gravel road, rutted road, obstacle, incline or decline I put it into 4-Lo if I don't anticipate driving over 20mph. Putting a vehicle into 4-Lo gives you the best crawling ratio and lessens wheel spin. Remember traction is your friend and keeping that advantage 1) lessens strain on your drivetrain and suspension parts 2) lessens damage and harm to the trail. Too many people spin their wheels driving off-road that it creates larger ruts and cause damage to their trucks leaking diff fluid all over the trail. Your engine and transmission also work a lot less harder in 4-Lo which keeps temps down. It's also advantageous to be in 4-Lo low gear on a decline as you are using engine breaking and not burning out your brakes so quickly. The smell of burning brakes on a trail and knowing it's the only thing preventing you from rambling off a trail is not a good one.

I'm not an expert on the matter but I don't know that I've ever needed or been in a situation where 4Hi Locked would be needed. I suspect that would be best in a situation where you want wheel spin such as being stuck in the sand, high centered on snow/ice, or maybe stuck in a mud pit. IMO I think there are far more situations where a locked differential is needed in low range than needed in hi range which is what Toyota is betting on. Not to say that being able to be locked in hi range wouldn't be a nice tool to have if needed for the right situation.

    thanks.
Digitalwiz owns the '22 Tundra and owned an F150 prior. The numbers as you say are small between the two.
From his post it appears he noticed the difference and has not got used to it. I am not sure reason I asked.
Sometimes it is about more than the numbers.

    Good analogy.
In my situation I am always shifting on the fly into and out of 4wd. And I do get to speeds that are probably too fast for 4low 25 + mph..
I agree that a rear locker in 4 Low makes sense. It think its these videos where they are in 4hi and saying "do I need to use the rear locker -- lets see"

    fwiw -
I have not yet needed a rear locker.
I remember a conversation a couple years a go with a guy that was a longtime Toyota Dealership Mechanic and serviced the Tundras that were used as snow plows.
He told me snow plow guys get into all kinds of trouble when they disengage the A Trac and go it alone.
I am not snow plowing but I asked for best traction what to do.
He said just leave the A Trac on and you will never get stuck due to the ground clearance and the Open C rear Frame.
The Gen 2 Tundra rear tires will stay on the ground longer due to the articulation of the rear frame.

I emended when I went from my 21 pro to my 21 lariat. First drive in the f150 after flying in it took me 3 points to u-turn. I said “fuck.” But I got used to it as I drove it.

22 tundra is even worse and the 22 pro tundra is even worse than that lol
