And in WTF news, the govt wants to add 87K new employees to the IRS. What's that about? I wonder...

I’d have liked your post because I agree with your last point— but I do not like the graphic innuendo in your last sentence, so, nope.

That's what I'm saying is going on here. Gas is .80 higher in the city where it costs less to deliver the gas. It doesn't make sense. Normally the further you get from the interstate the higher it gets. Somehow it's backwards. They are definitely testing the limits.

Not to get political but that's actually needed. Last time I corresponded by mail it took over 6 months to get an answer. Because the local office doesn't take appointments you just have to show up and hope you're seen.

I'll admit I've had more IRS contact than I'd ever want to but that doesn't mean they're overstaffed.

And something like 50% of their auditors are eligible for retirement. I feel the same about the IRS as most people but unless they are completely abolished then we might as well staff them at a level where they can actually respond.

I think they're wanting to build an elite force to target the ultra-rich. They normally target the common man, because they never put up a fight. Rich people can afford lots of legal representation, and have overly-complicated tax info, which takes eons to crawl for a win.

I'm telling you, they should incentivize the IRS. For every big fish you reel in, you get 1% commission. I guarantee you ultra-wealthy will stop finding ways around paying, and there will be no shortage of folks lining up to do the long legwork.

I always assumed it was supply/demand issue.

There's more demand for gas in the city, they can raise prices higher and still maintain volume. There's less demand outside the city, so they reduce to compensate for lack of volume.

I think there's also something to be said for fuel off the interstates. I assume it's a mix of cheap delivery with need to remain competitive.

I think my 4 hour wait on the phone to talk to the right IRS agent speaks for itself. That and my 10 month wait on a refund from a 3 year old tax return only to be told I filed it too late when I have proof it was mailed on time. :bored:

Here you only need to drive 5 miles from the interstate to find cheaper gas.

Inflation is so bad that I found out dollar tree now charges $1.25 for every item in their store. lol

They’re also too cheap to either update their name or pay their personnel 25% more.

It may be intentional, actually. They've recently launched a new store chain where everything is made exclusively in China to cut down on costs, but still a buck or less to capitalize on the struggling and/or ultra-poor and/or kids while still making huge profits. This is the future some of us have been warning about :anonymous:

Thanks for the elaboration, but I was just extending your idea to my group of friends growing up who would do crazy half-baked stunts with little thought as to whether they’d survive. (Thankfully, they did with the exception of one friend;story for a different day). I would usually give some thought before I did something crazy and play it somewhat safe having them take the initial risk.

Ugh! Add me to the list that hates the IRS, like I hate blue and red lights flashing in my rear view mirror… but, yeah, if we’re gonna have a tax collection arm, let’s have one that works. I’m owed money… IRS declined to send me my full refund due— sent a form letter indicating I got more in stimulus checks than I actually got. Nope. So I’m prepared to show what I deposited… they gotta figure out the accounting on their end. But the many times I called, an outgoing recording said it would not be possible to speak with anyone due to high call volume— no option to hold or request a call back, only to submit a letter by a specified date to extend my right to claim. Did that, paid for proof of mailing. Still haven’t heard anything.

We need our tax collection and postal systems to work, and they don’t. It’s probably time to increase staffing and work the problem.

Shame the air cars never made it here. Compressed air.
MDI France had delivery vans running around, then TaTa Motors India signed on.
For us, behold the Airpod. bleh.
Zero Pollution Motors | the first compressed air-powered car
As one of the U.S. licensee for Luxembourg-based MDI, the developer of the Air Car as a compression-based alternative to the internal combustion engine, ZPM has attained rights to build one the first of several modular plants in the United States to produce the air-powered vehicles branded ‘AIRPod’.

Delivery Continental USA. The purchaser will have to pay for the shipment from the plant to their destination. For the moment we are negotiating with various parties as where the first plant will be build in continental US. Once we have selected a site, it will be announced officially. Once we officially announce the site of the first plant, you can request a freight estimate from UPS at www.ups.com.

At least they didn't partner up with Fed Ex. The cars might actually get to you.
The original official US importer was a guy based in his house about 1 hour west of me. I was so ready, but... poof. Take II.

This would be my guess as well. In the instructo's from TC that come with the gussets, it is stressed and repeated in bold, the importance not to overheat during welding - likely to avoid cracks in weakened steel.

What gussets are these? Not the TC's for our trucks. Are these yours @tokolosh?

But it was "puck" based. Once the 'H' is added, then it's just a misspelled bad word

I read that it's mostly for their auditing processes, meaning they'll have the resources to conduct audits on many more people and businesses.

It's been $1.25 for at least a year here. A buddy of mine and myself were seriously planning to help edit the sign overnight. Like how they do on billboards. The storefront signs are about 20 ft. off the ground. I had not realized that before trying to figure out how to get up there

That makes sense, you also wear crocs:rofl:
I always assumed the prowlers had V8's. You can't have a car look like a beast without being a beast. That's like false advertising

I literally live less than 3 miles from the Rainbow Sandals factory, my feet will never fall victim to the croc. If you don't know about Rainbow's, they're the best flip flops ever made. As a child, i was forced to wear Flojo's. Might've been before your time, maybe not. Anyways, when wet, those thing were dangerously slippery. I'd end up runnin around barefoot with my Flojo anklets on. Point is, I hated em, and crocs remind me of them. But do yo thang man. HAHA I just remembered, I recently saw a pic of someone with croc-nuts! Yes! like truck-nuts.... but for your crocs! You've GOT to get some

Exclusively with V10’s. Read a cool history on the Viper that walked through the evolution of the engine. The original was actually a truck engine block that they let Lamborghini tune for them. Side pipes. No roof or side windows. The original ADM machine. The one I remember from high school when they came out had $60k markup on it. It was a $60k car. So $120k for a car with no roof. It was so badass though.

Holy shit, Flojos! Honestly, I dunno if many people outside of SoCal know what they are. They were everywhere when we got stationed in SD back in the mid-late 80s. When we left for FL at the start of the 90s, you couldn't find them anywhere. And they weren't in the Jacksonville in the early 80s, nor in DFW are in the mid 80s when we were stationed there.

RE: Rainbows. A pair usually lasts me about 5-6 years before I start wearing through the bottom layer and into the 'meat' of the base, and I walk a hell of a lot. they start to lose the sole stiffness for me after about 3-4 years. I have a pair in my basement for 'quick trips' out the back door that are over 10yrs old now. But @5N0W808 you literally cannot blow a pair out. I dunno what steroids the center strap are on, but they're basically blowout-proof. If you blow them out, Rainbow will replace.

Seriously? What's on my feet right now. proof here. It's the only open-air footwear I've worn the last 40-something years, unless I'm getting wet. When the leather gets wet, it'll dye your feet. Well, there was a short Birk phase in my life, consider those the "Lebowski years", but otherwise just Rainbow.

Although, I gotta say, in the last decade, I think they've changed the way they handle stitching under the straps, or my skin is getting thinner as I get old, because new pairs absolutely make the tops of my feet blister up until I've got a couple thousand miles on them.

    Huh, that blows?

Ooooh, Apple would have a legal field day with that name, if actually used.

... and intact, at that! UPS used to be the worst about destroying my packages. these days, hands down, it's FedEx. 1 in 2 packages they deliver to me is mishandled. 1 in 4 is damaged, to the point I typically need to refuse it or work with the shipper on a claim. I've been told it's more to do with ATL being a major hub, and the freight warehouses here being notorious for wanton package-chucking, but ...

I always try to warn anyone shipping things to me, if I have any say, not to use FedEx, specifically. UPS has screwed me once or twice, one time really, really freaking bad. But generally speaking, FedEx is blatant, consistent.
