I’d like to start this thread to hopefully help others try to narrow down rattling issues, troubleshooting steps, and remedies.

    Here are mine so far:

    - Issue: Center console rattling
Fix: Toyota replaced center console lid.

    - Issue: Rattling from bed, back window, or tailgate?
T/S: Toyota couldn’t figure it out and I’m still trying to narrow it down. Replicated rattling noise in a new truck on their lot so they won’t do anything about it. I tightened down bed bolts and it didn’t resolve the issue. Going to remove bed caps and put a thin layer of foam underneath them next. I have some play in my tailgate while pulling up when it’s shut, but I’m not sure if I can get rid of that or that’s the issue.

    - Issue: Rattling interior driver side
T/S: Still trying to narrow it down. It’s intermittent and seems to be more frequent in cold weather.

If you have an issue please post about it, how you fixed it, or your troubleshooting you’ve done so far. TIA!

I used to have some insane interior rattles. Especially around the cameras on the windshield and the interior door panels. A few layers of sound deadening and now they're very minor. Only time I hear any at all now is under certain bass frequencies.

Never tried it before and it was easy, just time consuming because I can be meticulous. Did 3 layers and took me about 1.5-2hrs a door. Total cost was under $100

The black plastic trim piece around the window is what’s causing my drivers side rattle. Tap on it and you can hear it.

I noticed my center console would only rattle if I left the storage safe knob on the unlocked position. Whenever I lock it completely goes away.

The tailgate rattle is a problem for me. I find the powered rear window completely useless for me if all it does is drive me crazy from the constant rattling even at 10-20 mph speeds.

No unfortunately I feel like anytime I have the rear window down you hear the rattling constantly. It's virtually useless to me with how bad it is.

Only rattle in my May built 1794 is from the drivers doors and it only happens when I close them getting in or out of the truck- sounds like the mirror is loose

My dealer is trying to resolve this exact issue for me. They replaced the tailgate hinges, rear left shock, re-torqued the bed and frame bolts and now they are going to remove the tailgate to see if it is stemming from there and then they are going to isolate the bed. Ill let you know if and when it gets fixed. This is my 3rd time at the dealer and most recently my truck has been there for 15 days and counting.

When I took the new Tundra out for a test drive This was one thing I wasn’t very impressed with. Seams like it was full rattles.
The sales guy said it’s because it hasn’t been PDI’ed yet ….likely the reason lol !!

Hopefully they will get corrected before to long. Definitely liking the new look and getting the itch to make a change. CB062F97-B9C4-430C-9631-05BB56C0656F.jpg

The bed isolation didnt fix the problem. Not they are going to isolate the cab. Ugh.

When I look out at the bed of the truck when hitting a bump. It’s like the hole bed shakes and rattles. It is so strange. It all most like it’s the new shocks on this truck that causes it.

I have a rattle that started a few months ago around 6k miles. It’s a rattle that sounds to me like it’s behind the 14” screen. Or slightly more to the drivers side inside the dash. Sounds close to the top of the dash. Sounds like a pin came out of something. Very plastic on plastic kind of sound. Only when hitting bumps. Anyone take apart the dash yet? I think if I could get the main top piece off I could find it.

You're description is very similar to what I am hearing. I have one that is in the dash, closer to the driver's side and one that is passenger side door area. Both are very plastic sounding, initially I thought the door lock actuator was the cause as it has quite a bit of play in it but I am not sure that is it. Did you ever have any luck tracking your's down?

Please add the panoramic sunroof rattle. Thread on here somewhere about it. I have to open then close the sunroof to make it stop. Dealer could not reproduce it as it usually happens after the truck sits overnight.

I have a rattle in my tailgate sometimes, but didn't really think much of it since my last truck was an 87 F250 whose tailgate rattled even if sitting still.

I called Toyota brand engagement and explained the problem. I have rattle of my driver side door. Apparently the dealership said it’s a possible recall issue but Toyota has not formally formulated a solution. Please call 1-800-331-4331 prompt 7 then 3 to report the problem. They answer pretty quickly.

Has anyone come out with a molded rubber liner for the center console plastic bin that slides in and out to access center console? I cannot stand the rattle of placing anything in there.

All of you that have a "back window, bed, or tailgate rattle" try looking at the spare tire chain hoist. The slack was just dangling in between the bed and rim causing the noise. I pulled the slack away and zip tied it BOOM rattling gone.

No. I will have to completely take the dash apart I think. I’m going to bring it up on my 10k service when I get all the recall junk done.

Oh, this thread has my name ALL over it. I have OCD /Misophonia and rattles drive me NUTS. I have an 2019 SR5 that I think I have rattle proofed and it has taken me 6 months to trace them all down and resolve them. Here are a all the ones I can think of and the fixes. Some of these might be in some of the same areas on the new gen trucks or at least help you figure out where rattles might be coming from.

Center console: The little SR5 ID tag on the top was loose so I put a small dab of silicone under it, solved.

Firewall wiring: The wire harness on the passenger side was slapping the firewall just enough to create a weird thump over bumps. I couple zip ties solved it.

Body mounts: I dont know if they were causing noises but I did tighten them and they were a bit off from the required torque spec. This was the 4 mounts front and back

Front skid plate: This one seems to get a lot of people on the older gens. I had put front D-ring tow hook mounts on and the skid plate was popping over bumps. I put some rubber shims up under the plate where it contacted the hook mounts and it went away.

Seat belts: The belts were slapping so I just fasten them when no one is riding with me. The mount where the seatbelt meets the pillar and is adjustable there was rattling so I placed some rubber shim material in there and it is hidden.

Door lock: My door lock buttons were even rattling on rough surfaced roads so I shimmed those with small pieces of cork board placed behind them

Under seat: There was a plastic box cover under the passenger seat that was held on by two push pins. I removed the cover and it is now fine. The cover really was just aesthetic.

Center console: I placed a rubber floor mat that I cut out into the bottom of the center console and stuff doesn't rattle as much.

Center windshield console / tray - the tray near the rear view mirror was rattling with my sunglasses in it. I put a liner in there.
