Rear Air bags......finally

So look what came up on air lifts website. i will be pick these up down the road and ditching the firestones

 

So the question is are these considerably better than the firestone kits that people have been installing, if so what makes them better? Not a challenge just want to know. Just over $100 firestone vs close to $500 for this so quite the difference

 

So main difference is the firestone are only rate for 1000lb were there are 5000

 

These will make your truck ride like crap unless you are running weight constantly

 

Are you really going to load 5000lbs? I'd like know how it works out for you.

Alright. What all would I need to have these and be able to air up all at the truck. Like can I have an on board compressor connected directly to these, so I don't have to air up with a chuck?

Which is completely unnecessary because its a half ton and probably doesn't even have much more than 1000 lbs of axle capacity available.

Everyone who has ever put the 5000 lb bags in F150's(which is a lot because more is always better, right?) has complained about the trucks riding like dog crap after. I run the airlift Ridecontrols on mine, which are 2000 lb bags, and they are completely transparent when deflated. But I have filled my 6.5' bed to about 3/4 full with crushed stone and was still able to level it out.

I wouldnt run them unless you absolutely have no other option.

I do have AirLift 1000 lb bags in my Lexus GX coils and have noticed it tends to cause the back end to be a little more wiggly even if they are deflated.

 

So this is too much?

 

Super cool. Would have been nice if Toyota had made a crewmax with a real bed though.

Just found these this morning. I pull a 7x14 14000lb dump trailer quite often and tired of the sag..

Ran air bags before.. they will actually ride better then coils if you only use the amount of air required.. ie: low psi empty… if you ride around with same are pressure in it you used to pull 10k lbs, yeah it’ll ride like a dump truck.
Can’t wait to order a set and install them. Be perfect when BW Hitch finally releases their under mount goose neck hitch..

these trucks are wonderful tow rigs for 1/2 ton market. If they put more then a 4 ply tire on from the factory we’d likely have more then a 1400lb payload capacity. 18,000km on my 2022 and tires are pretty much toast!

 

Agreed. I have had great success with this type of airbag in the past. When used as intended, they have a better ride quality than stock while loaded and no difference over stock when unloaded. I have a set on order and will hopefully get around to installing them this weekend.
