Tundra black out emblem covers

Anyone looking to black out their Tundra emblems here is another option. Box Lux sells emblem covers for the SR5 model trucks. You could also paint the covers a custom color before installing them. They also sell multiple Tundra tailgate letter insert options.

Do you have these on your truck? Wonder why the longevity is for these.

 

I put these badge overlays on my truck. They look great and as easy as you can get. Love them. As for longevity time will tell.

I bought the overlays from nox-lux on EBay for $99.99 shipped. Best deal out there.

Well looks like I'm gonna be spending some money today. Install looks simple. I'm hoping they don't look as noticeable as the extra HP stick on side vents from Autozone.

I've been back and forth between doing something like this or just plasti dipping. The latter of course being much cheaper.

 

One takes 5 minutes and zero effort. Well worth the money for me.

 

I had those for about a week. I didn't like the look of them so took them back off and ordered the black TRD Pro emblems from @Roman. If these black-out covers weren't stuck on my chrome emblems, I would just give them away for free.

How does that look bad?

 

Left is cover, looks cheap to me.

Top is cover, still looks cheap to me.

Maybe I just have OCD...

 

Covers look fine IMO. Maybe slightly OCD

 

Also, the TRD Pro badges (2 Tundra, 2 I force, 1 4x4) was actually cheaper than the after market stickers. I paid $112 total after shipping.

 

Totally get the OCD thing. I am OC that is why I did not want to take off the emblems and replace them. It would have been very difficult to get them exactly in the right spots. These overlays are great IMO and sure they aren't exactly like the factory black badges but no one will ever notice but you. I guess that is all that matters. What you want.

This is too much work trying to get the covers off of the chrome badges. I give up. The "Tundra" covers have a couple small scratches from removing them from the truck using the fishing line method. If anyone wants these, they are yours. I will even throw in a few sheets of emblem adhesive sheets to reattach these to your truck. I have no idea how much shipping would cost, I am guessing no more than $10.

 

Been thinking about doing this. Wish they had a limited kit...

 

I just purchased the 3m decals and replaced the chrome with black myself. Very easy to do!

 

Are the trd pro emblems are to put on in the right place?

 

I put these on my truck this weekend. I figured if I put new badges on, I'd sure enough get one crooked, which would drive me nuts.

They look great, with the exception of the iforce 5.7 one. It looks off, but not terrible. The others are perfect. I wondered how the black badges would look on the black truck, but I like it.

 

I don't think you guys know what OCD is.

 

That's why I used a level when I installed mine....of fear of making them crooked.

 

I matched mine up to the faint imprint the chrome ones left behind.
