Android dropped the ball in my opinion. iPhone is where its at. Especially for business. I was already running macbooks and ipads anyway.

I'm still rollin'a 6s for that very reason!!!! But, after the last update, my battery is struggling to last more than opening a few apps

So, I may have to pony up for a new one.... You are correct, no more true home 'button'; although the new gen iPhone SE apparently has the solid button, which doesn't depress and click like a normal button, but allows function like the older phone. It's still weird though, cuz it's just recognizing the presence of your finger (so digital over mechanical function)...

 

Im not saying I’ll never go back to android, but I do know that I'm never going back to android. lol
Everything iOS just works. And works every time. Maybe not as customizable, but I am okay with that. Apple dgaf if you want to customize.

 

I gotta say though (I am a Mac/ipad/iphone user) that I'm less than impressed with the seamlessness of the devices (which is why I started down this road in the first place). So, when I teach at conferences, I thought it would be nice to pull up my powerpoint on my laptop, then use my iPad for functionality during the presentation (drawing, changing slides, videos, etc...). However, apparently, running a bluetooth connection between devices (that were less than 15' from each other) is too much to ask. I had the bluetooth drop several times within the first 30 minutes of the presentation and had to abort use of the iPad.

Went back to just using my laptop and a bluetooth clicker, mic etc... which all seemed to maintain connection even though they were not apple brands....

 

Typing this from my droid, as it's still superior.

 

Definitely not a neophyte either. I traded my Motorola Razr (the 2004 one, not the 5G one) for a Blackberry my work gave me. I traded that in on an S5, and had it until the S10 came out. I'll likely keep that at least another couple of years. I'll probably wind up like my dad when I retire... Has had the same land line for 40 years, and doesn't own a cell. Threatens to get the land line cut off, too... - - "anyone I'd want to talk to knows where I live, and they can knock on the door."

 

With a broken finger does it matter?

Also, why do we still say hang up when leaving a phone call?

Does anyone use these as a phone anymore?

I absolutely hate iOS. It's unintuitive, slow, clunky and a pain in the ass to do anything with on both phones and computers. I'm using a Macbook Air as my personal laptop because The Woman had it kicking around (she dumped it in favor of a Windows laptop for her stuff) and I'm too cheap to buy my own. I have a Windows laptop for work and they provide me with an iPhone and iPad but our computers are Windows so I legitimately use both Windows and iOS side by side on a daily basis.

I can navigate through and do stuff twice as fast on my Pixel or Samsung tablet than I can on my iPhone or iPad. Same on my Windows laptop vs my Macbook. Maybe if I was doing video/photo editing it'd be different, but iOS just plain sucks for actually getting stuff done.

 

I’m all thumbs, I think sooner or later we will evolve with crab like hands, think about it, that’s all you need

 

Outdated phrases. Reminds me of one of my favorite stories about my son - I'll try to keep it short...

Dude was 3 years old. For his birthday I'd gotten him a $30 toy (I was making $7/hr., so it was some dough for me) and a clearance toy for $1 - a little clear plastic gun with a flywheel and flint inside that made sparks when you pulled the trigger. Didn't have 10 minutes on the $30 toy before it was old news, but that gun got worn out. So I'm chasing him around the house - you know the circle that goes through the kitchen, dining, and den - with a finger gun screaming 'bang! bang!', and him with that little sparky gun. So he got tired and needed to rest. Well, what did my generation say? 'Time out!' But this kid starts screaming 'Pause! Pause!'... Couldn't catch my own breath for laughing.

 

There’s generations of folks that will never have the satisfaction of slamming the phone down to hang up.
