Why is the Platinum Hybrid NOT AVAILABLE with a TRD Off Road Package?

I saw a Toyota article about this a while ago… I don’t remembered all of it, but it was something about you can’t have your cake and eat it too…? Idk, weird

Never have been able to get platinum with trd, get a 1794 off-road and black out the chrome. Platinum is meant for city folks in the 22

Too bad! The Platinum looks better suited for a TRD package than the chromed-out Limiteds and 1794s.

Wouldn't that basically be a TRD Pro...?

Actually a fair number of interior/tech differences between the Platinum and Pro. The Pro is based more on the “limited” trim with some changes to cosmetic stuff on the interior and the suspension alterations (plus the hybrid being included).

Best of all is a 1794 off-road with new shocks, will blow a pro out of the water

What exactly what about “a 1794 off-road with new shocks” will blow a Pro out of the water?

Many upgrades interior wise over the pro (which is based on a limited so doesn’t even have real leather), it’s the highest trim level outside of capstone (which is just different colored seats and trim), comes with special cab mounts to improve ride, special front windshield for noise reduction, and still has all the off-road tech that the pro does.

Aftermarket shocks will be higher end than what comes stock on the pro, they will also yield a higher lift and a real lift kit will come with uca’s to help the suspension articulate better (along with sway bar links, panhard bar, extended brake lines, etc).

All that sets a pro from a limited trd off-road is: mid grade fox shocks, bbs wheels (really nice), 33in tires that are equal to stock tires, just slightly larger, digi camo trim pieces, different grill, some badging that has pro and the tailgate stamp- nothing special about the pro outside of that. F150-Raptor, Ram 1500- TRX are massive changes, Limited-Pro ain’t much but cosmetics and decent shocks with 1in lift and nice wheels

I actually prefer the standard grille with the Toyota emblem over the TRD Pro grille. I do like the light-bar, though, but I like the emblem and the TRD on the standard grilles better. and the tires, yes, the skinny and small looking 33’s had to go.

And yes, the suspension/dampers on the Pro are mid-grade, but it gets the job done. Its still just as “modifiable” as any other trim, though, if you are looking for anything more. And I agree as well, anyone doing even a small collar lift temporarily should look into brake lines if they plan on playing around off road.

On the interior, I’d actually prefer almost anything over leather, though. Leather gets gross in trucks in my opinion and is subject to quicker wear. Capstone or 2wd, or a Supra for that matter; then sure, I’ll take leather, but otherwise I think the Softex is the ticket.

Yes, if you take good care of it and yada yada, but if you are actually out working and sweating or off-roading, or hunting, and in and out of your truck, leather isnt that great over time. The Softex is much better suited to this type of thing.

And finally, I’m not really sure what the need would be to upgrade the rear track bar to an aftermarket panhard before taking a hard look at a lot of other components first, but I’m pretty positive that unless you are trying to do some serious off roading up against a new Raptor R or possibly a mid or long travel custom out in the dunes, the factory bar will be fine for most anyone.

As it sits, these trucks are far more capable than “built” trucks of the past, so I dont see the need to go all out upgrading every little thing under them. I’ve watched nearly stock Tacos go further into and out of of places that other shit can’t. The average owners with a Pro, much less any Tundra (or even raptors or TRXs) are never going to fully put it to the limit off road. If I ever do and I break something, then I’ll upgrade it. 75% of the time it’s going to be on asphalt, though, so I reckon it will be fine.
