I'm planning my suspension lift kit, but wondering which path I should take. Adventure Motors currently has a kit available to ship but I also have a pair of Icon Stage 7's on order with a deep discount from the Summer sale. Both kits are approximately the same cost but as you can see, the AM kit includes the whole enchilada. On the flip side, the Icon kit has the 2.5 Remote Reservoirs.

my use case is I do some light off roading. Will eventually turn the truck into an overland rig as income permits. It is also my daily driver.

    Which would you choose?

    Adventure Motors Kit:
    • Fox 2.0 Performance Front Coilovers
    • Dobinsons C59-559V Rear Coils
    • Dobinsons IMS59-60687 Rear Shocks
    • Pro Comp Tubular Front Upper Control Arms
    • Adventure Motors Rear Sway Bar Bracket
    • Adventure Motors Rear Stainless Steel Brake Lines
    • DBF212 - Front Duro Bump stops
    • PR59-1421 Dobinson Panhard Bar
    Icon Stage 7:
    • 2.5 Remote Reservoir Coilovers
    • Icon Tubular Upper Control Arms
    • Sway Bar Drop Kit
    • REAR 2.5 Remote Reservoir Shocks

Light offroading doesnt really require Icon Stage 7.

If you are gunna eventually make it an overland rig then you are going to add a ton of weight and any springs you get now, and possibly shocks, will likely need to be changed anyways.

At least in my Lexus GX, dobinsons offers like 10 different springs just for the rear because of the various height options and spring rates. Same with the front

Why does the AM kit come with a pan hard bar? And where is it installed? I’m assuming in the rear where the solid axle is but why?

It goes where the stock panhard bar is on the rear- allows you to line up the rear axle and is crucial.

I’ve had icons since 2014 to Last winter when I sold my 19. Cdcv valves with billet arms and leafs. On te adventure motors set up and it is a dream. The icons Blew up and needed a rebuild every year for the most part, so that sucked. I am going to ad dsc to my front fox coil overs, or switch over to the Dobinsons fronts when they come out.

Michael and crew at adventure motors are some of the best people I have ever met, they spent weeks working on the parts- Test fitting, making adjustments/ tunes, custom brackets, test runs, etc. wouldn’t go back and get anything else!

There is no factory panhard bar for the Tundra. This is for a Tundra right?

I would stay away from Dobinsons if you want to custom valve your shocks. When I had them on my Gen 2.5 the rear valving of the IMS shock was off in my opinion and I could not find anyone in SoCal willing to revalve them. Dobinsons will not sell shim kits either.

Not sure why people still love Icons. I only ever see people comment about how noisy they are and how they're needing rebuilds after only like 10-15k miles. That's extremely weak for being almost as expensive as fox and king.

Brand doesn’t matter as much as the 2.0 vs 2.5. Once you start off-roading, you’ll quickly realize the 2.0’s are insufficient.

The correct way to do it is to put a mount extension on so that the panhard is at the stock angle. Simply running a longer bar is not really the right way to do it. Something like this:

    https://eimkeith.com/buystuff/pck/

If you dont correct the angle of the bar then it causes the axle to shift more over bumps and it will handle poorly

stock bar can’t handle the shift, so you need an aftermarket one, just like the land cruiser

The bar wont need to shift anything if you correct the angle

The bar needs to be longer and adjustable, hence why all these companies make them and people use them

these will work, but I’d rather have an updated panhard bar that’s sturdier than stock

Which is fine, and you can run an upgraded bar with the mounts.

but an upgraded bar alone doesnt fix the geometry.
