Can someone verify if this is the correct clamp

Trying to get my new exhaust installed and can’t get this clamp started. The bolt is too small to get started in the nut. Or what the hell am I doing wrong?

it looks close but the bolt seems small. Here is the stocker from my 2016. It was kind of a PITA, have to crunch and hold the clamp together and get the nut started. Then hold it so it overlaps the pipes and tighten the bolt.

I checked and parts number is right

    lol
I ended up getting my big clamp and clamping the shit out of it and finally got it started. Maybe the bolt I got was too small. Although, mine doesn’t close flat like yours does. I’ll get a pic of it tomorrow.

Here is my clamp. Not sure why there is a difference between ours. Mines made to not be flat like yours is.

That clamp is still too loose homie…tighten that thing down…Looks to me like one of the ends is bent almost 90 degrees which is causing it to not line up correctly…both ends by the bolt should be flat…

That doesn't look right at all, could you be persuaded to post a pic as taken from the front side of that clamp where the two sections of pipe come together? From this view, kind of looks like the clamp needs to be moved forward...

I got it pretty tight and The bolt is already starting to twist. If you look at the bottom part of the clamp, it’s got that bent piece that’s hitting the top part of the clamp. That’s as far as it’ll go.

The lower bracket part appears bent up, should be bent back to be parallel with the upper part. That tab at the end of the lower part is like a depth gauge to prevent over tightening.

@SpyderRC Your clamp doesn't appear to be bringing/pressing the flared ends of the two pipes together correctly like can be seen in @KNABORES's picture.

I had to use a clamp to even get the bolt started. Probably why it looks bent. Here’sa different picture. Both pipes are butted up together and the clamp looks centered. Not sure what’s wrong.

I used a pair of channel locks and closed it enough to start the bolt..
Squeezing the clamp with channel lock pliers will seat it down enough to start the bolt.
Just make sure you finger start the bolt, it is easily cross threaded.

It isn't going to be flat or even perpendicular when you are done..

You might want to pull that off and make the bolt hole tab flatter.
If needed go to the parts store and buy a longer bolt.

But then again, mine doesn't look much different than yours.:D

Get a hammer and tap around the circumference of the clamp as you tighten more. Should seat it better.

Ya, it looks like the tabs are bending before the c-shaped halves are snugging up against the outer circumference of the exhaust pipe flanges.

Mine doesn’t look much different than @1lowlife besides my bolt maybe a little more bent lol. Weird how some people can get their clamps straight and ours are apart. Anyways, thanks for the help everyone. I may just go and get a longer bolt, put a c-clamp over the exhaust clamp to get it more snug while tightening down the new bolt. If it works, great! Otherwise I’ll leave it as is knowing mine isn’t the only clamp not together.

I suppose the operative question would be, "Does it leak?"

Yes, I did replace the gasket. Used the one that came with the exhaust. As far as leaks go, I don’t believe it leaks. I went with the 8” so with the rumble of that, it might be kinda of hard to tell lol. Or maybe when I take my truck into the dealer in the next few months to have them do their free 2 year check, I’ll have them try to figure it out.

Watch for dripping condensation shortly after a cold start (could be up to a minute). If you're getting water droplets at the very end of the tailpipe, but not at the junction, you're set.
