TrD Skid Plate 2022 Platinum

Getting a TrD skid plate put on... covers nicely, photos tomorrow...

Heavy Duty and thick... covers the uncovered....

 

First thing I did was put a TRD skid plate on my SR5. The one Toyota put on there is made out of FELT... I shit you not! Skid plate Toyota bed mat and emblem blackout kit was first group of mods.

Two questions on the TRD skid plate- does the auto air dam interfere with it? Does the kit come with hardware, or is it present on the truck already (like the running boards)?

No, the trd skid plate does not hinder the normal function of the air dam. You do have to put the dam in the down position for the install though. The crappy fabric 'dam' that has to come off has 4 bolts and the trd takes 6. I actually had to go to the dealer and buy 2 more of the same (4) bolts that hold the original dam on.

Edit: You will also need 2 additional bolts. The factory skid plate has 4 bolts holding it on, the trd skid plate takes 6. Part # 90119-A0549 per each (you need 2).

Surprised theres no oil plug and filter access plates.

 

Putting the skid plate on was 2nd thing I did after getting AW floor mats in.

My only pet peeve is the lack of a maintenance access plate. Having to drop the entire skid plate for every service interval is a little...dumb.

The Tacoma TRD plates have it, as I recall. Not sure why they whiffed on the Tundra plate.

I had a TRD skid on my '18, and the damn dealer service was still dropping the skid to change the oil (it did have the removable access panel).

The unencumbered two aft bolt holes do not line up with anything... I believe they are there for a hybrid version.... but not positive... will ask Miller cat...
