I wanted a faster vehicle so I also bought a Chevy SS... because 4 door sedans with big V8’s are hilarious.
The truck is trying to tell you it wants to be de-badged…. in this case the truck knows best.

Out of curiosity, does anyone on here have a platinum that hasn’t had any issues with the trim? I have a platinum on order and will definitely check it over when it arrives

I’m sure there are many out there. The 1794 has the same trim pieces as well

I have a platinum that I am constantly on the lookout for this and so far so good. I’ve had it for 5 weeks and it was on the lot for 3 weeks when I got it, for what it’s worth.

I’m very glad to hear that! I live where it’s regularly over 100* so I’m hoping that won’t affect it

As do I…I’m in Northern California and we go for stretches of 5-7 days of 100+ then it’ll cool to 80 for a stretch then back to the 100s again.

After reading about some of the QC issues on the new tundra I am glad to wait a bit longer before shelling out my hard earned money.

Seams the last couple years QC has slipped across the board from cars to appliances. We have a construction business with a very high standard of workmanship and our customers expect that when they hire us.
Some of the products we’re getting from suppliers is disappointing.
Even many trades don’t seam to have same pride in workmanship… to be honest it’s been very difficult to reach the standard we are expecting.

We have one of our gmc work trucks out of Commission since the end of May with no eta for replacement parts so I think manufacturing in a hole if struggling.

We plan on getting a Pro once things settle down a bit hopefully Toyota can get these issues dealt with for everyone.

Genuine toyota hack job. It is really saddening, because looks like weekend DIY gone slightly wrong.

Same happened to me, talked with the service manager at my dealership today and he said he's heard it from others, only on platinum trims though. Either way, I'm having it removed by my detailer since that stupid trim piece seems to be more trouble than its worth

yes, they are calling it in as a warranty claim (parts on order since its 2022) and the service manager is anticipating it will be a superseding part number when it comes through indicating a fix since theres no visible wiggle room to indicate a bad install of the original trim

Remember that stick-on trim from back in da day? I don't ever recall that stuff falling off this easily....

Seems like it's double sided tape. I used 3m tape before on my spoiler and held up forever.

Maybe toyota stickers are still learning the usage patterns?

I wonder if they used poor quality double sided tape instead of more expensive 3m stuff. I’ve had cars with accessories installed using 3m tape and never had a single issue. On parts I installed with no name brand tape they came off or loosened over time

Maybe they got ahold of the fake "3M" tape that's all over eBay?

I mean, that's not totally impossible.....

I think that Toyota’s supplier would only buy directly from 3m if the decision was to use that product, but who knows

I'm just suggesting, maybe somewhere along the line some counterfeit product ended up in the supply chain. No way would I think Toyota suppliers order 3M tape from eBay

Dealer decided to warranty both my front door moldings. Even though all four of them are loose, they do not have their own body shop so that one of their guys went to take the first molding off and gouge the door paint all the hell, $1600 to repaint it. Still fighting with them to get paid.
