Using Formax green for inital stropping. Bare suede to finish. Thoughts?

I’m going with bare, all the way. And if she’s into stropping, I’m game for that too!

Keep us posted on your blacksmithing adventures. I’m excited for you and your son. 10 is an awesome age! Are you employed in the trades and already have a decent shop?

Last summer, my youngest son spent his vacation here with us. While he was here he made his own Damascus knife. We worked together for about a week. I had him ‘shadow’ me through the process each step of the way as I did a similar knife in front of him. Some of the crucial steps, like the heat treating and etching, I did. C33ED2E2-1B42-4D82-86A7-0BB00FB6F414.jpgheres the knife he made..

No…I’m a banker by trade  I have done a few things with blacksmiths over the years through my involvement with Boy Scouts. One of our leaders was a Horseshoer/Blacksmith and let a couple of us goof around with his forge. I really had a lot of fun.

A friend visiting from AZ brought me some cholla skeleton. I’ve got some pieces cut, cleaned, dyed, stabilized and cast in epoxy. Pretty excited about the knives they will be going onto!5C9B4C98-1902-47E3-B196-4F35BB93F1E2.jpg31A9FBC7-921F-41B5-8A00-E768B5AFAFCA.jpgFCD9DC7A-1F63-48C8-BCAC-3E3EC371A724.jpg

Added a few to my collection this week. Got my first Spyderco, and I dig it other than the clip being on the wrong end. It’s driving me nuts so I’ll have to move it.

Also got a couple from a new company, Rosecraft Blades. I’d seen them on some videos from knife shows a few months ago. Their designs looked cool so I signed up for alerts for when they started taking orders. They went live last Friday so I ordered them. They feel pretty good, and have great action on them. I really like the black and red one. Pretty cheap also, less than a hundred bucks for both. We’ll see how the quality holds up.

I really liked all the spyderco knifes I had, usually half serrated was my choice of blade.

How's the quality? They have some really great color schemes (sadly the donut one is sold out) but they seem really affordable for what they are. Can never have too many knives and always looking for new wishlist items :fistbump:

This one is a co-workers knife. After hearing how it came about it made me laugh and had to share.

The knife is the exact replica of the Desert Warrior and seams to be a decent 50.00 knife. The guy that carries this blade has quite a collection of very nice knives...if this says something. He likes Ray's knives a lot and may be interested in hitting him up with a custom order.
