I’ve seen a few photos floating around where people have swapped the rear bench in a Double Cab to captains chairs.

Does anyone have first hand experience with this?
What year sequoias have the rear captains chairs?
How much modification is required for these to fit?

I'm digging this idea, I'm guessing it would be 1st gen sequoia. I don't know when I can make it to the u-pull-it but I'll have to take a look at a sequoia. The seatbelts might be a bit tricky, I see they used the shoulder belts in the pic

Hell yeah, except put cross-firing 12" woofers in as a center console.

DC has shoulder belts on both sides, same as sequoia 2nd row. Should be plug and play.

I like the idea and would consider if I ever put rear seats back in. Mounts will be the issue, doesn’t look like the factory location is being used.

My wife’s 07 sequoia has captains chairs. When we were looking though majority of the sequoias had bench seats.

I just walked out and looked inside my truck, your correct. The rear belts are shoulder mounted, in my defense I don't think I ever sat back there :D

07 was the year the body changed?

sequoia’s run a year behind the tundras. They offered the 1st gens up until late 07. Then unveiled the 2nd gen late that year with a launch in 2008. My wife wasn’t a fan of the 2nd gens. She says the 1st gen is just a bigger and nicer version of her 3rd gen runner

The rear seats in a DC bolt to the rear wall as well as the floor.
The floor bolts are set back pretty far.
It would take some serious modding to mount captain's chairs in a DC.

Well then we have a winner :D

When you have a minute or 2 to spare, take a look around and see how those seats bolt up and compare it to the Tundra. If I remember correctly, the captain chairs fold forward similar to the tundra

This is for the 1st gen my brother, our rear seats bolt up on the front of the underseat storage hump and has hooks in the back. So the seats fold forward to give access to those shitty, worthless storage bins. The Sequoia 2nd row folds forward also so I think it just might be similar enough to make it happen. The center console I have no damn clue how that works.

Nice job on the sound deadening

I'm sorry, I'm not paying attention.
In the 10 years I owned my 2005, I don't think I ever had the back seat out..:eek2:

But I had the front out a few times...:D

The back seat is no man's land in my truck, tools, bungee cords and straps occupy that space. But I do have to clean it up, I just have to figure out what to do with all the crap since I don't have a garage anymore. I really wanted to buy the decked bed drawer system but they don't make it for the 1st gen. Hateful bastards

I’ve seen people using the Decked systems from shortbed F250s and Dodge rams. Word on the street is some trimming will make them fit.

I’m glad I’m not the only person who thinks those storage cubbies are nearly useless.

I did some more digging this afternoon. I found a handful of photos. [IMG] [IMG]

As quoted from the Facebook posts:
    And the other post

The photos are from the two quotes posts. Looks like one guy removed the rear latch and the other took a cutoff wheel to it.

I do like the idea of captains chairs in the double cab. Would have been nice having them in my 2nd gen Tundra when I had it, as that back seat was massive compared to my double cab.

The 2nd gen cab is longer and the truck is wider but the bed is a little shorter. In all honesty, I should have kept my 01 access cab, went to the dc just for the occasional family or friends trips

They should stick to their day job because trimming plastic ain't it.

Creative mod though. Although I'm all about that back seat delete life.

I’m currently sans-rear 60. I like to have my floor space open so I can clutter it up with tools, recovery equipment, trash etc. Honestly speaking I’d probably be better off with a regular cab and an 8 foot bed since I’m pretty much always flying solo, but my hopes of actually getting a RC pretty much went out the window since I probably won’t ever be able to sell/trade my truck due to the salvage title and butchered together modifications.

I started out with just the 60 out and I built a little platform in it's place that holds my fridge. There's a little bit of storage underneath it. At first I wanted to keep the 40 just in case I needed to haul a third passenger ever, but I went so long without ever having one that I took it out and started carrying one of my totes there instead.

If I ever up with kids I'd consider doing something like this though.

I'm considering it if I can find gray cloth seats at a reasonable price. I just like some custom shit. I'm starting to aquire the parts to address the crap stereo

Yeah, I’ve been keeping an eye out for a system for sale near me for hopefully $500 or under.
I’ll pull a lot of my tools and maintenance supplies out, which should free up some space. Partial case of water and bag of recovery gear stays though, which is a large part of the clutter.

I wonder if anyone has converted a 1st gen Sequoia into a first gen Tundra?
Weld in the tailgate behind the 2nd row, remove some roof & 1/4 panel.... Could be a nice Tundra.

I used to have a photo saved on my phone where someone hacked the roof off a white first gen sequoia and I think they converted the lift gate to a tail gate too.

Found the photos. I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to try this and make a custom roll bar and soft top like a first gen runner.
