WeBoost Mounting?

Haven't seen any chatter or posts about WeBoost antenna mounting options. Maybe too soon, but am interested for what anyone's been doing with this.

Thanks. While the expo options abound w/ racks and RAM mounts, was curious for Gen3 specific approaches and wiring folks have done.

I had mine mounted previously on the roof of my 100 series Landcruiser and routed to the rear power outlet, as example.

 

Honestly...unless you're open to drilling into the cab to mount a roof rack...the only practical mounting solution that I can think of is a door-placement antenna mount. I would think you would put it on one of the back doors. If I did it, I'd likely do the rear passenger door that I use the least and then run the cabling along the inner door trim to a power source.

I've used the Comet RS-840 on my 4Runner's rear hatch to mount my radio antenna for the longest time before I put on a roof rack. It was there for about 3 years before I relocated the antenna to the roof rack. If you mount it right, it doesn't damage the paint. Mine was on for about 3-4 years with no damage after I removed it. Diamond also makes a similar style with their K-400 series mounts.

Here are some pics for reference. Top pic of the RS-840 and the bottom two are of the Diamond. Either way, doing a door mount like this is probably the only way to get the antenna above the roof line without a roof rack or a destructive option.

 

I’d be interested in this too. There appears to be some grommets lower rear cab exterior. There are a lot of write-ups on cab entry, but not for the new Tundra that I can find.

 

I am needing the same thing. Needs to mount behind cab between cad and bed. I have a folding mount so it can be lowered for wash etc. I have an idea for a cantilevered mount which will mount in bed and roll over under the tonneau and turn up 90 degrees for the mount. I’ll work on it when I get some time…..

 

I wound up going through the grommet near the front of my drivers side running board. Worked out great!

 

I'm a fan of biting the bullet and drilling an NMO in the roof. If done right, it'll last practically forever.

 

Now we're talking! @MadMonk1967 - where did you end up plugging in the device itself? Also, what mount for good measure? I've the same retrax and love all things t-bolt now.

 

I hard wired it to the fuse box. The door sill/kick plates remove really easily and there is plenty of room for the wires. Mounted the booster under drivers seat. I have not decided where to put the interior antenna, right now I have it loose and want to experiment with a few locations. (Not really a fan of the suggested mount to side of seat).

The mount is Rhino rack, pricey, but appears to be really well made.

Mind sharing your wiring as well? Haven't dove into the Tundra yet but have done a bunch w/ my 100 series Landcruiser. Curious if you just did a buddy fuse tap.

 

FWIW I have an NMO on the roof of my FJ. Great for 2m, but I think the WeBoost is a bit much for that mount.
