It's funny, because of how I got this nickname.

One of the first few jobs I had in life was at a well-known B&B in FL. I worked FOH, but was a peon, so started all my shifts BOH slicing lemons and generally doing prep work.

BOH in the restaurant had a hot line with 2-3 guys cooking, a cold line with one guy on salads & desserts, and a dish pit. I'd always shoot the shit with the guys back there, especially this guy Marvin who was their main cold line guy, didn't say much, and everyone told me he was "not all there".

One day, I'm cutting lemons, and Marvin walks up to me out of the blue. Mind you, we never directly talk, so it was already weird to have him approach me. He looks me dead in the eyes and says something to the effect of, "Don't you hate it when you're on the way to see the great Buddha, and you eat a poison mushroom?"

I honestly didn't know how to reply. "Yeah Marvin, that shit sucks bro..." is roughly what came out of my mouth.

He continued, "I'm gonna call you 'shifty'. Yeah, 'shifty'." and with that, he walked off. In the months that followed I crossed paths with Marvin several times. He never said another word to me, other than, "... yeah, shifty".

I was 15 at the time. I told my friends about it the night after it happened. We'd all been getting into graffiti at the time, and that became my tag. When I started to spin records at 17, it became my table name, and fit well because I was known to mash unexpected stuff together and change directions at any given time.

Decades later, it's managed to stick. Of course, I prefer the less-negative definition because it fits me a little better. But the others may fit a little bit too.

Part number appears to be 31 82 006 05 FA as printed on the spring.

No trace of anything in Eibach's catalog ending "FA", but part number is absurdly close to what's on the sheet, i.e.

Sheet: E30-82-006-05-20
Part : 31-82-006-05-FA

I guess if nothing else, I can make some Inspector Gadget shoes, teeter toys, or yard art.

IIRC, all those trucks are built in uS by USian's, unlike - say - a Caravan built in Canada.

Got the suspension maxx sway bar links put in this morning. Thanks to @5N0W808 for those.
Hopefully this fixes the clunking in the front driver side. After seeing the USA made Moog joints condition after 5k miles I think it was the culprit.

I'm sure it's a decent joint just doesn't play well after lifting.



Also got the splash guard installed from @shifty` Not in the best shape but I knew that going in. Better than nothing though.

 

Never had that happen. That's the cool thing about the Bakflip, you can technically emergency-release if you needed to.

But yeah, without getting your hands on something to engage the pulls, I can't imagine any other way except mangle.

 

If only he had a ridgeline, he could sneak in thru the back window!

 

Doesn't the Tundra have a screwed on panel on the inside of the tailgate? Remove panel fiddle with thingy, open tailgate.

I never looked. Could you take a strong pick, stick it in the crack, turn it, & pull to release the catch?
You would need pictures of an open bed from someone here to see what to grab & someone to work the other side at the same time.

 

On the subject of sway bars…..from those of you who have upgraded to aftermarket bars, what’s your opinion on just swapping out only the front or rear bars? Or is it a necessity to swap both out?

 

For the front, if yours came with the smaller 23mm sway bar you might be able to swap yours out for a 27mm from a Double Cab or a 28mm from a Sequoia. I believe @assassin10000 upgraded his front to a Seqouia sway bar.

While doing some investigatory probing, I brake cleaned and tri flow lubed my hood latch, soooo smooth the hood almost opens on its own

 

If the hood opens on it's own while driving, then @empty_lord could possibly have another rollover to purchase, and he doesn't need anymore toyota's right now. Just make sure it latches as well as it releases, eh?

You probably don't have a rear. Unless your truck got it as an option with the TRD package.

Yep, using a 28mm 1st gen sequoia front (sunroof model) swaybar and retrofitted a rear bar too.
