Congrats on getting back on two wheels. That Vstrom is a good choice. Aftermarket and ADV equipment available for those things is unbelievable. Plus they're so ugly to start with, it doesn't matter if you get it dirty :D

Yeah I have heard it from all of my friends......."friends don't let friends ride Suzuki's". But when I told them the deal I got and showed the service records, they all said, "great choice - I would have bought it too". It isn't going to win any beauty contests, but I know the history, it's is meticulous shape and will be fun to ride.

Went and looked at the bike today; great guy sold it to me. Every single service record and a bunch of aftermarket parts (3 different sized windscreens, a brand new spare set of tires, all three factory matching hard cases, heated seat, heated grips, braided steel brake lines, and a bunch of smaller stuff). Sat on it, rode it and it ran great. Went and got it registered, titled and insured….now just to get it inspected and get my safety course completed.

NICE! :bikewheelie: I know you said it's a Suzuki, but what model and year?

One thing, please tell me you got it off the stand when finally secured for towing.

    it’s a 2003 Suzuki dl-1000 vstrom

yea I just put the stand down when I was undoing the other side of the ratchet straps - if it was going to lean I wanted extra support there and thought the kickstand could help balance

I thought Vstrom, but I'm not anywhere close to confident that I can identify bikes on sight. From what I've heard and read they are great bikes that run well. Happy for you, man.

My buddy / riding coach is rocking an ‘07 650, he loves it and just picked up an ‘06 for his brother.

I do my parking lot skills test in 2 weeks, and when I pass that, I loose my 60Kph speed restriction and can ride solo. I can’t wait, but I guess I’ll have to.

Guess I'm the only one here with a Valkyrie. I've only ever seen one other of the 2014-2015 Valkyries on the road.

OMG...I know that bike. I have a picture of my father on his brand new SL 175. He used to drive the tank trails at Guantanamo Bay in 1973 on that thing.

It's my first bike and I also just started riding, so not much to compare it to but its fun. Its not fast but very easy to ride and is good for a beginner because it's very forgiving. It is also pretty inexpensive for a dual sport/adventure bike.

Curious if anyone has fit their harley in the back of their crewmax. Probably going to have to get some tailgate supports.

How did he even find one!? These things are few and far between. It's crazy how hard it is to find one. A friend of mine has been looking for one for a year and is on every dealers list within 50 miles of his house. Nothing. Anyway congrats, that's a good bike

He called and found a dealer a couple hrs away saying they had one coming in unspoken for so he put a deposit down and it came in five weeks later as expected. :notsure: Even the dealer was surprised that he could get one.

I canceled the deposit on my Desert Sled. Found one on the showroom floor at another dealer that I was able to sit on but with the new models being announced in the next month or two im going to hold off until I see whats around the corner for ‘23. Wasnt big on the color scheme but Im just happy I can touch the ground on it

Well, with nothing on preorder you could always take another look at the ol' HD Pan America. :p On a serious note, did your husband get his surgery done? Did he get any time on the T7 before that? If he did, what are his thoughts on it?

For anyone interested in the HD Pan America, a Youtuber I generally enjoy got to do a demo run on one.

When I worked at the shop three of the four lifts typically had a harley on them. Im all set.

He didnt get to ride it much since he was still doing PT for his hip surgery but he ripped around the neighborhood on it (dirt camp roads on the lake) and absolutely loved it. Big ol shit-eating grin when he buzzed past the house.
His hip just got cleared this past Thursday for full use and he goes in for his shoulder this upcoming Friday. Surgery #3 from the crash and hopefully the last effing one.

Oh, damn. I thought he had gone in for the shoulder already. That's a bummer for sure, but at least he gets to have a little time on it before being laid up again. If I were a little taller I'd probably have a T7 as the end goal bike. Seems to hit the sweet spot of on road comfort and off road ability without getting into stupid heavy liter bike territory.

Yeah hes pretty much the six million dollar man at this point. The crash was a thigh, hip, shoulder surgery and hes had both shoulders and the same hip done prior. Between the two of us and the dumb shit we do, we have a pool going on how many bone anchors and how many hours the surgeries are when we go in.
Hes 5’9” with around a 30” inseam and is on the balls of his feet, not bad. Im 5’3” 29” inseam and can barely get it off the kickstand and have to do the ol’ cheek-off-the-seat dirtbike thing. Its comfy af and lots of cool doo dads you can bolt onto it.
