Dash Clock Replacement

My clock has quit working on my 06 DC Limited. It was so dim I could never read it anyway during daylight. I would like a small thin clock to stick on the dash where the factory installed one is. Can go on without a working clock if I can't find a nice looking stick on. If anyone has found a replacement pls post picture and seller info

 

Interesting. I seem to remember the clock is just part of the 4WD switch assembly panel, I just can't remember if it was a modular component or not, or something you could easily replace.

I really need to take pics of the back of my center dash panel next time I've got it off to work on stuff.

You might be able to fix it if you can get the clock circuit out of the bezel assembly. Supposedly a lot of the failures are due to cracked solder joints that just need touch up with a soldering iron.

 

... or solder in a light-gauge jumper after you test traces for continuity.

I've also heard the HVAC controls having solder joint cracking issues. And there's a company somewhere out there who'll fix the board(s) if you remove and ship to them. I'd need to dig for the info. I have it stuck in my head theo ne company others mentioned is in TX.

 

They did not make it impossible to touch up soldering but they sure made it a challenge. Had that whole circuit board off last year checking the 4WD drive switches and general look see. The clock module has about 30 paper clip size prongs that go downwards about 1 1/2" to circuit board.

So it looks like it's a shared PCB with the 4WD controls (@Scuddog this may be interesting to you). So if you got a working board, it wouldn't be too difficult to board-swap, a couple of screws to get there, as long as the donor truck was (ideally) same year, with same drivetrain (2WD/4WD). So not a horrible fix to replace the clock by way of replacing its circuit board.

I don't see any HVAC controls through that specific PCB. I do see the little 5-wire jumper over to the airbag light/hazard control (or whatever). I'm surprised to see two power bulkheads on the PCB with the clock, unless one of those is feeding out to somewhere else for the 4WD buttons. @Scuddog that's kinda what I'm wondering here with your buttons. Maybe one of those connectors is loose, or maybe you've got a bad trace on your board?

EWD would let you figure out the pinout for each connector and what power (if any) should be on each.
