I'd say anywhere from 500 to 800. Several sellers out there. Valhallas an Talons garage seem to be popular.

I have an ETA on the passenger side of August 5th. No ETA on driver side. Need both so the longest ETA drives everything:mad::mad::mad:

If you use red loctite have fun dropping the shield to service the transmission. Blue loctite won't slow a thief down that wants to remove the shield. Personally I would go with the security bolts and be done with it.

A buddy of mine that lives in North CA has video from yesterday of 2 attempts to steal his catalytic converters. He ran first one off. The guy jumped in a waiting car. My buddy got the license plate. The second one was under the vehicle and he gave him a good kick to the backside. The dude got up and ran off.

I bought 6 and used them all, I didn't need them for the front since I have a TRD skid plate.

The ones on the sides of the rear brackets look a little funky but I used them anyway..
If you have tube steps you probably couldn't see them.

I wouldn't pay anyone to do it but if you have an etching tool, and hour and don't mind laying on your back in a contorted postion, by all means. Will it help you in any way? Highly unlikely since I don't think it's easy weld the cut off cats back on if you were to get them back. I think it more for the benefit of Law Enforcement and prosecutors. I know I'd try it weld them back on if it meant saving big bucks or getting my truck back on the road.
I painted and etched the last 8 of my VIN in multiple places since I had the tools, the time and a glutten for punishment.

I was thinking that a rigged security device like that dye they use that explodes on the thief would be a nice surprise for somebody under your truck with a sawzall... Then I came across this and thought that somebody will come up with a great idea....

Strange story-Guy at work walked up upon someone under his car at 5am. Thought he was stealing his cats. He kicked the dude as hard as he could and other employees waited for him to crawl out from under the car. As he was crawling out a newer SUV pulled up and the 'thief' took the punches and kicks, dove in the SUV and took off. Cars owner crawled underneath and the cats were intact. Guy had no tools whatsoever. After 5 minutes of looking under the car he found a gps tracker and 4 kilos of what he assumed was cocaine or meth.

This employee lives in Mexico and travels across the border every day. What these cartels are doing is finding people who live in Mexico, work in US and at night or while you are in a store attach the drugs and gps tracker to to your car/truck. Then after you make it through the border check points they go pick up the drugs/tracker.

He called the police and they told him leave the items in place, drive to a border check point station then they will pull the tracker and drugs making the cartel thinking it got confiscated. Pretty sketchy.

I wouldn't want to drive 3 feet with that stuff on my truck. I would tell the police to come confiscate it or my next call with be to a TV station for coverage.

I hear you. Problem is they see the tracker go dead at his/my work place or home, there is a higher chance they will come back looking for the drugs, if it goes dead or tracks to border/police checkpoint that has the highest chance of ending there. This was discussed at length with the narcotics division. This is common problem on border towns.

Right but still..... Uh sorry officers, you come pick this shit up, and take the tracker to the border station, or drive my vehicle for me.

Wish it was that easy. It's a messed up situation all the way around. One minute your driving to work next minute your a drug mule for the cartel.

Hate to say it, but Catalytic Converter theft was a consideration for me selling the Tunny. Once the scumbags hit 4 trucks in my neighborhood it cemented the decision. Orange PD is sympathetic but has no real solutions to an unchecked crime spree in my city.
